Oh that's a tough choice! I'd say after a burger or anything in the BBQ realm really, I'd go with vanilla. If it's Italian food, I'd pick the chocolate because it goes well with an espresso and then it's basically a hot weather variant of dolce e caffé, which requires a grappa, and that is not at all a bad thing.

Vanilla with limoncello!

Put two shots of rum in the chocolate shake and you have a tasty boozy treat.

That's a good point. I'm most likely to have a shake if I'm having a burger and with that it's always gonna be a vanilla for me.

I can imagine this would be good with a dark syrupy rum? We used to pour a healthy dollop of whiskey over vanilla ice cream. Not the smokey single malt stuff which I don't really like, just an 'ordinary' one like Jameson or Tullamore.

It really adds some bite and is such a nice way to finish a meal.

Yes! Something like Myers Dark Rum is perfect.

I've had whiskey on ice cream many a time too. Totally agree on your choices, we'd usually have Jameson or Ballantine.

We have a bottle of Hidden Loot - dark, sticky, sweet stuff with subtle flavours of banana, coconut and vanilla. I'll pick up some chocolate ice cream later and give it a broadside of that tonight!

Damn, that sounds good, shipmate!

I drank up my lifetime supply of alcohol over 30 years ago but, I'm curios now, what booze would you add to a root beer float?

I've never tasted a root beer float but after reading the recipe I found online I might suggest a shot of Galliano.

Good question. I gotta say, I am not a huge fan of root beer. It always tastes medicinal to me. I'd probably go with some white rum.

Now I can't stop thinking about various combinations of ice cream and booze. How about lemon gelato with a splash of vodka? We could call it a Vice Cream.

Yesterday was national macaroni and cheese day. Tomorrow is national ice cream day. Unfortunately, yesterday on the radio, I heard about this.

https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/loc...se-ice-cream-hits-freezers-this-week/2553592/

“We know that there is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than ice cream. That is why we wanted to combine two of the most iconic comfort foods to create an ice cream with the unforgettable flavor of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese we all grew up with,” said Emily Violett, senior associate brand manager for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese."

I love a good rootbeer float but white rum would be all wrong.

However when I was a kid my dad invented the perfect float.

Now as a little of the customary internet recipe backstory that you don't give a fuck about, my dad cant cook. Not a bit. He can barely make toast. Left to his own devices he would subsist solely on wheaties and cold cuts. But when I was about 11 he delivered a true culinary masterpiece. A one hit wonder that would make Chumbawumba blush: a scoop of orange sherbet in a glass of 7up.

Its amazingly delicious and refreshing in the summertime.

And would probably be even moreso with a shot of white rum all up in it.

Wife's family makes a punch with orange sherbet and 7 up.

So, what would be all right?
