Top 10 guitarist of all time per Guitar World!!! So You know it’s fact

It’s probably a pretty rad gig writing these lists for Guitar World. Reshuffle the same 10 names over the past 25 years and collect that BIG FAT NICHE JOURNALISM CHECK.

As click bait this shit is sub “one weird trick to eliminate belly fat and see c-list former child star bikini photos” stuff.

Actually, 13 year old's are playing, and recording music. I'm friends with the family of a 14 and 15 year old who just finished their first cd and it's surprisingly good. Their high school has programs on performing, recording, maintaining anything and everything that has to do with performing arts. The sound stag is amazing and they put on weekly shows and concerts. They are out there playing and performing in front of hundreds of people every week. It's so far advanced from just high school band. They do everything and are super busy.

My point being that the list is a bit myopic for "greatest guitarist". No Segovia? Les Paul? Chet Adkins? Django?

And even if we are talking Rock guitarist, there's probably a dozen that should be on that list before Dimebag Darrell.

What's there to 'soak up' from that list?
With a list, it sparks conversation about who's not on the list and who one may want to be considered. If participants submit names of actual guitarists who are worth a listen then you would soak up someone new to listen to, learn from, and or enjoy.

Paul Gilbert ??
That's a name I defended the other day on another site when several noted "who the hell is Paul Gilbert?" Even though I don't own any music of the bands he's been in it's hard to not know who he is if you're a fan of everything guitar. A modern day monster player.

That's kinda exactly my point.

Who? I mean, greatest of all time guitarist who have effected the way guitar is played? Django meant nothing to me when I started playing. While I can respect his playing due to injury, he didn't die on stage. While his playing is interesting his influence as one of the 10 greatest in the last 50 years may not be relevant.

While Les Paul contributed to the development of the electric guitar and the recording process he wouldn't make my top 10 greatest guitarist. He'd make the top 25, not top 10. The meaning of significant changes with time with lists IMO. Really, how many Les Paul and Mary White covers are you doing? In the last week did you do any Django licks? I've watched their documentaries, listened to some of their music, and read about their contributions and it's great but not my top 10 on a list such as this. Eric Johnson would be though.

i always liked his work in Mr. Big.
also really liked him with Mike Portnoy in the tribute bands:
Yellow Matter Custard/Beatles
Hammer of the Gods/Led Zepplin
Cygnus and the Sea Monsters/Rush
Amazing Journey/Who

if you've never heard of these, look them up on youtube.
