Live ammunition is much more fun. What kind of handgun are you using for the training?
 
I've gone to the firing range and it's fun for a few minutes, but I'm not into guns I guess. :shrug:

I think you will like shooting live ammo. Its pretty fun. Like Aahzz asked, whatcha using?

Glock 17. One of the guys I work with is using his own Sig 226. He's going to let me shoot it which is perfect because I haven't decided which one I want to buy for my duty weapon yet and this way, I get to try them both out.

I would prefer the Sig 226. I'm not a big Glock fan. The Glock is prolly cheaper though.

Glock 17 is what the school issues if you don't want to use your own weapon. The BF keeps trying to sell me on the Glock for interchangability and affordability. Basically, the Glock/Sig decision boils down to personal preference. That's why I'm excited to use both.

Oh, it HAS to be personal preference as far as I am concerned when it comes to something like that. I am curious to see what you prefer.
 
With the GLock it all comes down to whether or not you're comfortable with the grip angle and the trigger.


I still say you should check out a Smith and Wesson M&P....

...I find the Sig is better balanced and easier to get back on target for a double-tap, due, I think, to the all-steel slide, unlike the Glock's composite slide...

If you have smaller hands you may find both the 226 and the 17 a bit unwieldy due to the double mags...if you can, try something like mine before you make the final decision...

BTW...Live fire is the awesome-est...:thu::)

I hear that a lot but I don't know anyone that has one here that I can play around with. Some of the people I work with have them. I might have to go to the range with one of them.
 
Sounds like fun. Just remember the front end is dangerous, so watch where it is pointed and don't 'sweep' anyone at the range...even when you think the gun is empty. Only one safe place to point it, downrange.
 
Oh, as for the choice, I would take the SIG226, as it can't fire without the magazine in the grip, whereas the glock can. This is one last piece of operator safety, in that if you were wrestling with a bad guy for the gun, you could always try to dump the magazine from the sig, removing it as a deadly weapon from the conflict .
 
Not to overwhelm you with choices...but isn't the Glock 23 smaller then a Glock 17? I liked the 23 if I remember correctly...

BTW, no matter what you buy the resale should be excellent...I funded my Les Paul purchase in part by selling my old Ruger Security Six...
