The World Cup Thread.....

David James.

England have absolutely no fucking creativity whatsoever.

How a team with Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney can't create chances against Algeria I'll never know.

I think France might not be the only big team heading home early this year.

That tie REALLY helped team USA in the standings!! Nice!!

It did - but they still need to beat Algeria on Wednesday to ensure going to the next round. If everything fell correctly they could be out - or win the group. England pretty much has to win next week to advance.

England are woeful really.

I avoid following Scotland because they're an embarassment and then England pull this?

I was a bit torn because a good showing from Bougherra will get a better price when rangers shift him over the Summer but jebus christ if you have Heksey on simply to provide for Rooney and he isn't providing then you've got him and Rooney basically contributing nothing up front.

You know it's business as usual, when England and France both suck. :embarrassed:

I know Germany had an "accident" today, but I still have a feeling they'll play Argentina in the final. Unless Spain get their act together. :embarrassed:

England has been worse than I feared. And that's despite having one of the best squads (if you look at the names only) ever.

I really thought Capello was the right man to make the English deliver internationally, but maybe I just had too high hopes for the man. :embarrassed:
With that number of great offense players, England should never be that bad. Hey, Gerrard and Lampard alone scored over 30 goals this season.

Retarded....

I don't really blame Rooney. From what i can see Capello wants Heskey to provide for him and since Heskey is a fecking dunce of the highest order Rooney's kind of stuck up there.

Gerrard, Lampard and Lennon have all run out of ideas as soon as they get about 25 yards out too so Rooney isn't getting the help he needs.

I'd personally have Crouch and Rooney on in a straight up 442 from the off but what do I know

So...the first half of Holland-Japan wasn't exactly too much fun. :embarrassed:
Japan's defense is very good and it looks like the Dutch just can't figure it out. Holland does lack their best creative forward though.
Unless the Dutch can take it up a few notches in the 2nd half, this smells like a draw. :embarrassed:

Gerrard has been the only England player that's looked capable of doing anything in the past 2 games.

Rooney was dreadful last night, and not for want of service. His touch was abysmal, I lost count of how many times the ball just bounced off him straight to an Algerian.

I can't understand why he's sticking with Heskey. Utter donkey. I almost ruptured at his attempted step-over last night.

Playing Gerrard out on the left is a fucking mystery too. The only times we looked like putting a move together were when he drifted into the middle.

What he was thinking replacing Lennon with Wright-Philips is a clanger. Swapping one shit winger for another, and not changing the shape of the team.

England's best team has got to be Rooney on his tod, Gerrard 'in the hole', Cole on the left and Lennon ( ) on the right. Lampard and Barry in centrail midfield, and the backline picks itself.

I'm guessing we'll be seeing a record amount of extra time and pens in the knockouts.

Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me one bit. :embarrassed:

None of the teams have taken any risk so far (with the exception of Germany's first match).

Of course, if England does get through the first round, they'll be fucked either way when it goes to extra time and pens.

oz in front!!! Nother goalkeeper fumble from an easy lookign save

what do we make of rooney's outburst? I didn't even know he'd made it until I checked the news today.

Heh, as it stands now, that group is now wide open - all the teams have 3 points iirc.

While Rooney's an underperforming cunt presently (as opposed to normally being just a cunt), I'll have to agree with him. I can understand the fan's frustration, but that's no way to support yer team imo. :embarrassed:
