The wonderful world of HiFi nutters

I've decided my niche in the hifi market. I will make power cords that are certified to block unwanted positrons from being transmitted into your audio path. No other cable can protect your pure audio signal from positrons. I'm going to start asking about positrons on all the audiophile sites right now. Forget about the fact that they are only produced by radioactive isotope decay and synchrotron particle beams, they are something every audiophile needs to be concerned about. One stray positron, and the anti-matter basis of these subatomic particles can cancel the electrons in your electrical signal.
I think i love you.

Reminds me of a test somewhere I read about where they took some self proclaimed audiophiles and blind tested identicle systems one hooked up with some ultra expensive speaker cable, and the other with unbent coat hangers and most couldn't tell the difference.

I need a link to that. Now.

I've heard the coat hanger story many times, but I can never seem to find any info on the actual test, or even a first hand description of it. I'm not denying the fact that it happened, but I wonder if this is one of those great bits of internet lore. BTW- I'm sure I could never hear the difference and have my stereo done up with cheap wire I got at radio shack. 19 bucks for 100 feet of 16 gauge.

Sounds like a job for Mythbusters.

I had some really expensive stuff given to me once and couldn't hear the difference at all.

Good thread... I have wired up a number of theater rooms over the years, but one comes to mind...

I had to build a big rack out of unistrut and shock mount a giant balanced power sub-panel, so that he could not hear the buzz This is the same guy that cut a hole in the wooden floor in the kitchen under the fridge, and poured a section of concrete for the Sub Zero fridge so sit on so that he couldn't hear the fridge in his bedroom when he was sleeping)... By the way, this balanced power sub-panel was my third time to wire this room... I was originally involved in building the original room, but he wanted more space for guests, so we tore off the roof and added 100 more square feet...

So, it was when I saw the invoice for the $5,000 (each) oxygen-free speaker cables to go with his $25,000 main speakers, his $15,000 (each) side and rear speakers, his two $20,000 sub woofers, his $100,000 nine foot diagonal Sony projection monitor, his two $30,000 mono-block power amplifiers, and the $100,000 the rest of the equipment, I figured this guy was not only rich, but nuts...
However, that wasn't enough, so we wired it into his $50,000 general entertainment center, out to the $50,000 outdoor monitor and surround sound system, into his $50,000 bedroom entertainment system, out to the pool area to the hidden rock speakers and sub woofers, and to his $20,000 barbecue...

Still not enough, so we wired in touch screens to every room, so he could control all his entertainment systems at will... Still not enough, so I rewired the entire house, including every single light and the 50 outdoor garden lights I had installed several years earlier, so that he could control his whole home from anywhere in the house, and over the phone from anywhere else...

Oops, time to install the security system, which will pop up on any touch screen and any monitor in the house...

Seriously, I have rewired his whole home 3 times... I guarantee if I go down south to work, he will hire me again, because every year, he sells ALL his equipment and buys ALL new stuff... messedup0

What does this guy do for a living? He is a roofing contractor...

Now what did I say about your avatar, Paulski?

...and by the way, do you need any help with your next rewire for this roofing guy? I'm applying for the patent on an interface between Large Hadron Colliders and Solar Roofing Shingle demuxers. Ballpark retail pricing around 1,999.00 per shingle. Have your people call my people.
