It's a microphone by the Holophone company. It's a big sucker, and is priced at about $1100, but it's one of the coolest things I saw at NAMM. The pretty woman at the booth told me to put on the headphone set that was plugged into the mic and listen to it as I made noises into it, but I told her I didn't care what it sounded like, and really didn't even care if it worked at all, I just wanted to look at the thing. It's a great object, the fact that it's also a working microphone is secondary to it's outstanding 'retro-atomic 'design.
