Snowmegeddon has started!

We are supposed to get 3-5" before this storm is over. It's already causing havoc on the roads. It makes me glad that I stopped at the local barbecue place last night and stocked up. I have enough bbq to last me 3 or 4 days.

It's a good thing we don't get snow here, 'cause there isn't ANY passable 'cue in the South Bay! I'd probably starve to death!

I so agree with you about that part of WI. The hill, and bluff country. Very lush and beautiful. And yes, I know Platteville.
 
Last week, since I was on an Epi LP kick, I was looking for cases online, since both Epi LPs I recently got were without a cae. While I was messing around, I went to the Used Gear area and looked at used LPs. I saw that an Epi LP Tribute Plus popped up as a Level 4 (usually bad) for $250-ish. This is one of the "higher-end" Epis that comes with a case, AND the Gibson '57 Classic pickups. My guess was that like most Epis at this level, It probably had a headstock break or crack at the neck. I called MF, and they couldn't not give me the details, as they had just gotten it in. They were supposed to call me, but never did. Knowing that cheap used stuff goes fast at MF, I went ahead and pulled the trigger - I figured that, at worst, I would get a decent HSC, the '57 Classics to transplant into my Epi LP Standard, and fix the damage, or sell as/is and break even overall.

It arrived today.



Well, SHIT! :grin: - the case was perfect, absolutely NO cracks or breaks in the neck. No dings on the body at all...What happened? Plugged it in. AHA!!! No sound from the neck pickup, but the bridge is fine. Open the switch cavity and wiggle the neck position wire, and viola!!! DANCING-banana

So, I basically got a $599 guitar in no worse than new cosmetic condition, and a loose wire, for $250...not bad :thu: - this one also has the same neck carve I prefer on the LPs: slim-taper "D", which is the same as what's on my LP Custom Pro. Probably gonna send the Standard Plus back (AMS is gonna hate me by this point...).

Very nice score!

I added pics of my second new Heritage that I got yesterday to my New Used Heritage thread. But here it is. This one is thinner than the one I got last week by .5". Apparently Heritage changed their specs in that 12 year span.

Excellent find, PRScott! The higher end Epi's, especially ones with Gibby pickups, are actually quite nice.

The guitar stuff arrived today Mon. Thanks again for that. I love the color. My absolute favorite. The twisted tele pickup? Is it for me to study?

I'm guessing that you are talking about the split coil Fender. Study away on that one. I don't need it back. It's pretty muddy sounding as is. And it's not worth much since I repaired it. The stacked Tele pickup and the humbucker are rewinds. Please use 4 lead wiring on the humbucker so I don't have to worry about phase problems. You should get that mini in a day or two.
