The Never Ending Gig Thread!

Using the Deluxe again I see. Is it holding up?

Yes.... I've got everything dialed in with the normal channel and I think it all sounds better now too.

Tonight was a good night...we played pretty well although both Joey and I are fighting off being sick and our voices wore out pretty early on. My friend from college Sheila who plays sax with Zappa plays Zappa among other cool gigs came out to hang... I literally haven't seen her in 20 years so it was pretty cool.

Hmmm. This thread makes me want to get in a band that actually gigs somewhere other than my back yard.

Glad to hear the Deluxe problems have been solved. My DRRI should sell in about two hours and I just found out we might have a gig a week from today! :rawk:

I was actually really happy with my tones last night. The room I played in is one I've only played once before but it seems to be friendly with my gear :)

Well - the first real gig with the rock band tonight. NO pics right now - maybe some later. There were a few rough moments but overall the show went very well. There was a pretty good crowd though not a lot of dancing. The club itself is really nice with a big stage and a huge dance floor. Lots of room for sitting and hanging out as well. We had a bunch of curve balls thrown at us and they all went well. Drummers brother sanf three Elvis songs that we had not practiced. Guy in the audience sang and played 'Can't You See' Right before a break a bunch of girls came up to the stage and said, 'Play and electric slide song'. I prompt;y launched into 'Boot Scoot Boogie' and the singer knew most of the words so we winged it for about five minutes. It was the biggest dance crowd of the night. Five years in a country band paid off.

My new rig sounded really good. There were a few combos of pickups and pedals that were kind of meh, but I love the guitar and the amp. Great tones. My playing was decent for the most part. I need to get better. And the bar owner loved us and wants us in a regular rotation (every 6 weeks or so). Very cool. A good night....

One other note from last night. Strange as it sounds, and maybe we just played the wrong clubs, but last night was the first time a club patron has bought me a drink. The bass player and I wee standing by the bar to get a beer and a guy at the bar told us he thought we were great and then told the bartender to get Jagerbombs for us. Not my favorite drink on the planet, but it was only one and I appreciated the gesture.

Sounds like you're off to a great start with the new band :)

Also, we're having to add a bunch of country songs in our band fwiw

Sounds like a great gig Denver.

I got a very random e-mail from an agent today.

I'm not sure if a friend from the Middle East has passed my details on or whatever but this guy works as an entertainment agent for big hotel chains across the world (Hilton, Movenpick, Crowne Plaza etc...) and wants me to put together an irish band to do a 6 month stint in a 5* Bahraini hotel from mid January.

This has been the best night ever as far as my playing in all star trio goes. I love my tones, the volume and tempos are really good and everyone is having fun. Hopefully the weekend continues like this. I guess my OCD practicing this month is paying off finally :)

Groovy! You'll have to post pics...

I will, now I have four gigs, both of my bands are playing back to back at the Cubby Bear on November 26th. That should be fun, debut shows for both bands in a room that holds 750 people. Black Labs are bringing a keyboard player and a couple of chick backup singers. I think my fingers are going to fall off my hands, did a four hour rehearsal Tuesday, a three hour rehearsal Thursday, got rehearsal booked from 2-5 tomorrow and then we rehearse with the chicks and the keys player for the first time Wednesday. And I booked a solo act that my wife works with to open up the first show which is now a 6 band bill. Thankfullly our slots are at 10 and 11:30.

I'm back in the game!

Played an outdoor gig in freezing weather last night. The low temp was 30.
