The Friday Thread

I can't wait for this day to be over.

We basically have 2 owners, the mad scientist inventor, and the smart businessman. They are disagreeing over R&D projects. And being the only engineer in the building, i do all the actual R&D work. I'm getting conflicting messages from the top people. This won't end well.

And, i have to keep all the production running at the same time. I'm stressed, and this sucks.

And the copier is still busted.

Today is a rest day for training and I need start finishing up my Epi Jr rebuild. Been away from it for a while as other projects were escalated for completion. Half-Marathon training in the morning and a family get together for lunch. I am going to miss Tom's seminar with Kid Ramos - Damn It - because due to the family get together where they are visiting from Portland, OR. Family does come first so I will need to see the rebroadcast of Tom's show.

Tonight. Plumb the sink and install the dishwasher and the kitchen is done. Yeeeeehaaaaw.

Tomorrow. Clean up the garage . Work on the sign for a local restaurant. Gig at 8pm.

Sunday. Who knows. That's too far away.

Today- relax at home with Mrs. Rev

Sat- yard work, then going to see Pete Anderson and at small local club

Sun- guitar

forealz, yo.

My son is off for the holiday so I'll be taking everyone to the inlaws shop in about an hour and then I have to practice. This afternoon I'm meeting Martin and maybe the other guys for lunch and then to play some Jazz at Premier and then I have an All Star Trio gig at the Blue Beet tonight.

Tomorrow is work and then a benefit for Lynwood Slim (our old harmonica teacher who just got out of the hospital)

Sunday my wifes cousin (who used to be a receptionist at Premier Music) is getting married.

Today - Discovered my employers have come up with some voodoo math that says because we all finish an hour or so early on a Friday this academic year, short term supply teachers only get a half days pay. Not quite sure how they work that one out since I'm on an hourly rate insead of a salary so they're fucking me out of a few hours pay every week which adds up, especially since I've not worked in a month now.

We'll see what my union has to say about it first thing on Monday morning :embarrassed:

Tonight - heading out in a bit to go for dinner and drinks with an ex. We were going to go to her place and well... but decided it's probably better to avoid that particular train wreck. Calling it quits early though planning on being in for 10.

Tomorrow - My brother and his fiance are hosting a murder mystery night. I apparently got drawn out of the hat as the humble cockney chambermaid so I've got to tranny it up  I should add that I wasn't there when they drew out the characters so I think they've fucked me over.

Sunday - Rememberance day church service in the morning, dunno what I'll do with the rest of my day. Probably play a tonne of MW3.

In fact a mate of mine from Newcastle who is a professional hypnotist has a gig in Scotland on Saturday night so he might be popping down on Sunday. :thu:

Band was pretty amazing.

With a horn section, they can play a lot of stuff you don't hear a cover band play.

Chicago
Three Dog Night
Blood, Sweat and Tears

Some Steely Dan
Colin James

The second set was more funky
Brick House
..... More stuff like that which I'm blanking on right now.

Definitely different than what you'd normally get in a bar around here and they do a great job.
Sound was great.
Vocals were spot on. Although the vocals for the Steely Dan tunes were way down in the mix, but fine for everything else.
Band was tight. Horns were really cool...

Yep.

It's a spray on granite looking kind of stuff.
They did three coats of colour in our case because the person doing the work didn't like it after two coats. Then a couple of coats of clear sealer.

Reading the website, you'll notice they say it can be used right away. That is an option they offer and it does cost a bit more. Basically it takes them more time on site because they cure it with lamps.
The other option is to wait for 24 hours. That's what we did.... 'cause then I get a few days of rest before having to put the sink in. :)

To be honest, I thought it was going to look like crap, but it looks pretty good.
There's one little flaw in the clear that the installer said might flow out as it cures, but if it doesn't they can fix it pretty easily and just give them a call in a week if it's still there.

That's pretty cool :thu:

I just tried my skirt on for tonights murder mystery

I would die a very lonely sexually frustrated person if I was a tranny

Shave your legs?

The fact my legs are fairly toned and muscular kind of make shaving a moot point.

That and the tights I'll be wearing

I'm half convinced that this is just a massive prank so I'll turn up in drag and no one else will have dressed up.

Even if they do, when he e-mailed out the instructions they went something like:

Andy: You're a professor so a suit and nice tie
John: You're a conman so a suit and a not so nice tie, maybe a hat
Jill: You're a bit of an old floosy so wear a dress
Elaine: You're a young actress so wear a nice dress.
Me: I'm Poirot so I'll be wearing a suit and a bow tie.
Jim: You're the maid so you'll need to buy a french maids outfit from anne summers or something.

Went to a fundraising quiz night for the special needs school my brother works in.

We got absolutely pumped in the quiz but they raised a tonne of money so it's all good.

Supposed to be going out clubbing tonight but I can't really be bothered.
