There's the new shape.

Next I'm fabricating a cover for the swimming pool.
The mahogany is too flimsy to be so thin, so I made plywood with a walnut backer.

Some posts inside the pool will serve as supports and places to insert screws.

And the shaped cover in place. That was some tedious work. The shape of the pool is truly bizarre.

I glued in some filler to cover part of the filtertron route and part of the neck pocket.

And a full cover for the neck pickup hole. I'll make a new hole in the shape I want.

Remember how badly mismatched the colors were between the body and the new wood I used?

T'was Stain Experiment Fun With Chemistry night in the graves garage.
I think I've hit upon a winning formula.

Should be able to blend them right in now.

Thanks.

Tonight I'm cutting the neck joint using only a trained beaver. Lol.
Well, OK, I'm using chisels. I can carve this soft mahogany faster than I could make a jig so I'm gonna.

After the flat blades, still pretty rough.

Looking better.

It fits!

It needs to be a little deeper. Here's where I use the sides for a pattern. I can set the depth on the router and follow the joint to cut a nice flat bottom.
