Crap, that's a sexy finish! I can't believe you dumped the Ibby! That one didn't last long.

Yeah, that finish is the tits! :) And no, the Ibby didn't last long. Here's the thing: It was absolutely beautiful, I loved the neck, and the action was great. And it sounded amazing. But it was really uncomfortable to play. It was heavy, and the balance was horrendous. Sold it to a really cool guy here in town, just as I did with my Ted, so they've each got a good home I think.

Here's the thing though. I'm now very content with what I've got. I don't want to sell anything I have, and I don't feel the urge to buy anything else. I don't know if this has ever happened. We'll see how long it lasts, but I'm GAS-free.

Oh, and I sprayed the back with clear last night. No surprises yet.

Now it got cold again, though. I think sunday will be my next chance to spray.

It's funny how differently "wwodworkers" and guitar makers look at wood.
My father in law is a hard core woodworker, does antique retorations and stuff, too. He's handcarving a flintlock stock now.
Anyway, those guys see sapwood and they're all "cut it off! It's inferior wood!"
Guitar guys seem to dig it, though.

Another thing the wood guys laugh at....
Bolt on necks. My father in law was looking at my tele and he asked about the neck joint. Why isn't it a dovetail or something? A butt joint will never hold. You can't seriously expect four wood screws to hold over 120 pounds of force.

The devil made me do it
Now I wanna cry
He's makin lotsa promises
But, man, they never fly
He pat you on the back
And then he poke you in the eye
And if you follow him down
I say, man, you gonna die

What ya think?

And, capitalizing on the Graves moniker, I think my next guitar will have a slightly rounded/pointy headstock. I'll call it the Graves Shovelhead.

There was one a while back, and I think it was an undesirable nickname+street you grew up on+name of a president.

Mine could be Blind Devrow Clinton.
