Tell me about hollow bodies

Is it a decent shop?

It is, he seems like he could use some more store traffic (I think he does a good portion of his amp and instrument sales on ebay and the like), being the only Reverend dealer in the area could be beneficial

I will pass it along.

I'd love to play one but I'm not driving almost 1.5 - 2 hrs to do it. They really need someone in this region.

I know what you mean Lerxst - it turns into a day trip to go out and simply check out a guitar. I guess I can wait for a day when I'm bored and don't have anything planned to do it. I was thinking of heading to Prymaxe Vintage in Jersey one of these days. I have to check out Dtown Guitars next time I'm up visiting the Shrine though (yes, I'm Polish).

The festival is this week, iirc

Edit: if you do swing by, he usually has a nice selection of electrics and some pretty nice amps with a few more hard to find items like Matchless and Carr along with an ever changing small assortment vintage gear. Acoustic selection is pretty slim and mostly average stuff.

The Reverend dealer base is so much larger than it was even five years ago. When I got a Club King in the mid 00's there wasn't a dealer in the NY metro area and that's a huge market. I had to order it direct from Reverend but thankfully I was not disappointed.

They have some good dealers in NY now. Rudys and Monster Music in Levittown.

Monster's Levittown location is huge. they tried opening in Lynbrook a few years ago and it didn't work out for them. scared the owner of the music school i work for shitless when they moved in.

Rudy's is about as top notch a place as you can get. a lot of people think they have an attitude, but i've never experienced it. soon enough Rudy will be the last man standing on 48th street.

Just came back from the last day of the festival. Awesome day

This is my first post so hello everyone. Glad to be here.

I guess I'm a bit of a minority since I started out on a Fender Coronado II in the 60's, moved on to an Ibanez Artist in the early 80's and pretty much played nothing but semis for many years before I took up with solid bodies as well. I have to agree that there isn't a huge difference between semi hollows and solid bodies and it's not a real big deal to transition from one to the other. When playing over drive Rock or Blues I really don't hear much difference if any at all. It's when I play clean that I hear subtle differences. Someone here said that the semis have a woody sound and I think that's an accurate description. Any way here are mine.
