Tell me about hollow bodies

Ok, it's official, I have GAS for a semi or maybe a hollow body. I'd love to jump on the Ibanez in my OP, but that would be too impulsive. I need to explore what is out there. I hear a lot about the Casino, so I have to give her a run. Budget is important for me, I just can't afford more than $700 before mods (yes - must get a new nut cut right, fret level/polish and some power of suggestion pups). Any tips on what I should check out with regard to guitars will be more than welcomed. Thanks MW Forumites - looking forward to hanging out more here!

Here is Grohl rocking his gibby semi, and check out Pat Smear rocking the Hagstrom Vik:

Dual semi attack, with a tele thrown in. Best shots of Smear and the Hag are at 3:embarrassed:0 and after. If you go shopping for semis, check one of them out. Could be in your budget and worth considering along with the Epis, Ibbys, etc.

I'm tempted to recommend something. What's the budget for a guitar you don't need to fix?

Talk to me Goose. Considering I am in the process of selling an amp and many pedals I no longer need I could scrounge up some dough.

Here are the Semi's I own.

Semis and hollows are great. They have a nice, round sound, when played clean, and are oh so throaty sounding, when you dial up the gain. Here are mine:

2006 Rickenbacker 360
Mabel-July192012.jpg

2011 Gretsch Country Club
Charlotte-Nov182011.jpg

2000 Danelectro MOD 7 (poplar framed body, with hardboard top and bottom) - yes I bought it back from the shop I traded it in at for another guitar (it's on layaway)

I gave $250 for this Korean 1998 Washburn HB35, before upgades. Had metal pickups in it, replaced with BG Lizzards. Would think you could find USA for $700 with a lot of shopping.

Wow - now I really appreciate that Reverend1. And I'm not blowing smoke up your arse. I've been wanting a P-90 guitar and now I'm feeling the hollow body thing so you hit the nail right on the head. Price for the Club King 290 is right on. Demo is outstanding. I am going to keep my eye on this one. Thanks again!

Anytime, where are you from?

Semi's can be setup and even mod'd to do just bout anything....

99% of what I own and play are semi's..
They can be nice and jazzy, to blues to twisted sustaining tudeful to everything in between......

Some examples:

The Dot that I just bought from PunkKitty, did nothing more than a setup...l

To as Gibby ES150 - heavily mod'd... Super fast neck, sustains just about forever...
This actually has two violin posts installed under the bridge....

So if it feels good, they are certainly capable in the right hands, to do just about anything....

Yep, I was asking to see if there was a dealer near you. Looks like there are a ton in PA.

You mean you don't want to hang out and go to Red Lobster!!!

Anyways - I'll have to check out the Reverend web site for the local dealers. I was going through ProGuitarShop for the on-line demo. Again, very cool guitar - thanks for putting me on to it.

No need to thank me, I will blabber about them to anyone who will listen. Even to some who wont. Great people at Reverend and they make killer stuff.
