Newsflash! Soccerball International Championship thread?

As much as I love Spain going home, I'm a bit ticked off by Russia still being in it...

Ah well, Piqué and the coach really fucked this up.

My question is wether that was really a handball? Headed off the Russian player into the back of the Spaniards arm, no way Spanish dude could've seen it coming.

On the other hand, the refs could determine that hs arm was in an unatural position and award the handball. Yet many people raise their arms at least somewhat if they are jumping up into the air, which the Spanish guy was.

So the main point would certainly be if his arm was in an unnatural position or not?

I assumed it was because he had his arm up and was in an expanded defensive position because of it. Penalty.

Yep. His arm wasn't in a "natural" position, so by how most refs interpret the rules it's a penalty.
It's why you see so many players these days will have their arms behind their back whenever someone fires a shot or cross.

Either way, the Spaniards got what they deserved in the end. Maybe you can often walk the ball into the net in the Spanish League, but that shit doesn't fly in a World Cup.

It was in a natural position at first, by the time the ball hit his arm, it wasn't anymore. He held it up way too long, after it served no purpose to his jump anymore. Just fucking dumb. But hey, it's Piqué, what do you expect...

True.
Still think Croatia can go very far if they can get through this one though.
Yeah, they're pretty solid. Think conceding that 1st minute goal didn't do their confidence any good this game either. They do look like one of the few teams that wouldn't have too hard of a time breaking down shit like the Uruguayan wall.

They got a very good balance to their team imo, and play a lot more direct than most of the other technically good ones.
Modric is probably the most complete midfielder on the planet as well. When he's on, he can run games pretty much on his own.
