Newsflash! Soccerball International Championship thread?

Must say that Spain isn't very impressive so far... 90% successful passes and >500 passes is all well and good, but it's not really going anywhere. It's like watching the pre-2010 Dutch team. 70% possession isn't a goal in itself and isn't going to win you the match...

So glad to see the two "My greatest of all time legend status won't be complete without a world cup win! " assholes going home.

Very much like Portugal yesterday. Lot of posession, but that doesn't really help if you can't get enough tempo in your play to stretch defenders out of position.
Spain do fall into the walking football trap sometimes.

It's a bit sad for both that their national teams are so shitty. I mean, imagine Ronaldo in a team with players like Deco and Figo, it would be amazing. For Portugal it's just shitty they got Uruguay, it's pretty much the only team that's ridiculously hard for them to play against, as they play pretty much the same tactic, but while Portugal's defense is good, Uruguay's defense is amazing. Messi is just unlucky that the team has great forwards, but the rest just sucks. The defensive is shaky at best and the midfield is pretty much non-existent. Mascherano is great, but he has to spend most of the match fixing other player's mistakes. Combine that with nothing but braindead coaches for the last decade and not much will come of it.

Yes, let's take Costa out in a match where he's the most likely one to get some ugly goal in and let's replace him by yet another tiny passing legend....

50 fucking more minutes of this and they'll both be happy getting to penalties.

B-O-R-I-N-G

Not exactly the hight of entertainment, no... Russia lacks the balls to get off their own half and Spain looks like they're just playing for statistics...

It's a sad sign that Spain needs to bring in a 34 year old to blow some life in their game...

years from now, songs will be sung about Spain's completed pass stats.
It's the kind of shit the Dutch team used to do before 2010. Absolutely unwatchable. And the cringe-factor only gets higher by the post game "we dominated but they got lucky" bullshit.

Spain have some really really good players, but they lack that vision and passing range that Xavi and Alonso had at their peak.
They just don't have those sort of players in their squad now, Isco is more of a long term Iniesta replacement.

They have about 5 Intiesta replacements (that are all worse than Iniest), but 0 Alonso/Xavi replacements. Why the fuck is Busquets still on, just take him out and put Alcantara there...

Yeah, Biscuits is quite pointless when you need goals.
Especially when your opponent plays this defensive. The coach is really showing his inexperience this game. Why the fuck would you ever take Costa out and leave Busquets on in a game like this. Costa would have been so valuable right now... And you change him for another little fragile passing boy, only to change it back now. Wtf...
