So, this weekend

So I finally got out yesterday. Thanks for all of the support and kind words. I was operating off of a tablet with a keyboard attachment, and it is a frustrating pain to use, especially the built-in mouse pad. It helped knowing I had people pulling for me.

This was the proverbial wake-up call, and there will be many changes. (But not eating meat, sorry TP.) It has reminded me that I need to take care of myself, and it reminded Carol and I how much we mean to each other. The cats even showed that they missed me. All-in-all, things have worked for the good.

Zoinks, just saw this thread! Glad you're sprung. About 10 or 11 days ago I had an "episode" while me and Mrs. Krashpad were up in Jax, tightness in chest, peripheral neuropathy in hands (moreso on left side), shallow breathing. Went to Mayo since they know me so well (and we were literally only 3 miles away), 2 EKGs and BP were fine so they let us go, but want me to do a stress test. Going to cardiologist locally here in GNV on Monday.

Prayers and mojo!

I'd rather live a year or two less than to quit enjoying the food that I do..

So until it's my time to go I'll eat, drink, and be Gary!!!

I haven't eaten meat in 27 years, don't like it, and don't miss it. There are a few foods that I like that I will have to eat in moderation, so that isn't bad. I may not mind living a year or two less, but I love Carol enough to do what I can to be there with her. That makes it worthwhile for me.

It is rarely just a year or two lost. My dad is 84. He has lost almost every one of his many friends he grew up with to their addiction to food. I don't mean recently, because many of them died 15-20 years ago. Dad eats meat, but in moderation. He has a very healthy diet and keeps fit.

I get that we should be able to live and eat the way we want, and I'm no angel, but you can take care of yourself without cutting all the bad stuff out of your diet as long as you can minimize/prevent the damage. This requires regular exercise that gets you out of breath (no, not just bonking fuzzies). However, once you have even a minor cardiac event, you have to change and keep at it without back sliding.

Cool...And I agree with this.. I eat a ton of meat and fish but also a ton of fruit and veg..
The cool aspect is that my dad is also 84 and I eat the same as he has all his life...
