SO I feel like a "mom and pop" store that just had Walmart open up next door.

Maybe offering some sort of full starter package deal would help you bring in the "First Guitar" type learners. People (Like me) who want to start to learn to play guitar have no idea what guitar to buy with which to start. Offering a guitar/lesson package may belay a newbies reservations knowing that "someone in the know" helped them get started with the right gear. -- Just a thought.

My guess is that is EXACTLY what GC will be doing during the holidays. It's just not cost-effective for smaller shops, especially when you're not set up as a retail space.

Yeah. I'm not set up to sell or price ANY kind of retail instrument sales anymore and it would lose me more money to get going than I could make from the venture.

Start giving PaperJamz lessons.

:bfp:

Start fucking yourself in your meathead face plzkthxbai.

I'm really tempted to run an ad saying "bring your guitar center receipt for a free lesson at Premier Music" for first time customers :embarrassed:

Something like this: "bring us your guitar center receipt" and if you are looking for guitar lessons, well give you a 20 minute free trial lesson. Reservations are necessary for this offer. This should keep you away from the computer for a long time. :spit: Seriously, this is good a good marketing approach in these hard times.

You could follow my local guitar store's Facebook advertisement.

I was really surprised to see them open a store at the Block. I would never go there for regular lessons purely because of the location. Can you imagine parking and lugging your gear through the mall for a 30 minute lesson?

The bring your GC receipt for a free lesson is a good idea but really expensive to get that message to the people it might bring to you.

My kid's karate studio does demonstrations at the local schools. They use students from that particular school in the demos. The kids watching go home with the coupon flyer and get mom & dad to bring them in for lessons. The studio gets a lot of business this way and it costs virtually nothing expect time. If you have some students from a particular school, arrange to have them give a short show at their school.

We're already at my sons school January 23rd

Any kind of print advertising is going to be too expensive for my projected return so I might do something like that on Facebook but thats all...

as far as what? I'm on it....you mean to connect with teachers?

spamming services to your contacts. putting you latest marketing copy on your profile, and essentially using it like you use Facebook. your Skype lessons seem like the perfect thing for the East Coast businessman who doesn't have the schedule for guitar lessons here, but could benefit from the 3 hour time difference.

I'll have to look at it...I just got home and I'm a little overwhelmed with marketing for the day
