Short and decent thread here:

It's hilarious how he has to point out 'they're different people'.

Twitter hears that Gabrielle Union yelled at an uber driver. How outrageous and entitled is she. And then think that it is okay to then call Martin Scorcese, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Brian Cox, Stellan Skarsgaard, and whoever did the soundtrack to Joker an asshole. Also, Tim Cook has Apple sweat shops, so probably Michelle Williams and Olivia Colman have some somewhere too.

Aren't you glad someone got them all back for that at least?!
? What did those other people do wrong? I dunno, they're all the same let's get 'em.

They're just actors/actresses after all, why would anyone take their advice on anything other than acting?

I've never really gotten that point. I work in IT, but doesn't mean the only things I know about are computers. I'm sure you are more knowledgeable in areas other than your occupation. Not too mention, actors and musicians travel the world. They see the entire world and can observe other cultures and gain more perspective than people who work a 9 to 5 and get 2 weeks off a year where they may not even leave their state. Yes, they are sometimes clueless, but just because someone is an actor or musician, doesn't mean their opinions and observations are not valid.

Fair enough.

The event has been generating some good memes.

He did his job and he did it well. If he doesn't host I doubt there's a four-page thread on the Golden Globes here. People are talking about it. That's exactly what NBC wanted.
Agreed. The ball is in your court Academy Awards.

Yay corporate driven culture wars! Let's tweet and internet about it some more while Rome (well, the world) is burning and we are angling for some more M.I.C. fun war time.

People are entertained by pain.
They blame others for their own misery and failings and want to see someone "pay for it".

A smash of glass and the rumble of boots
An electric train and a ripped up phone booth
Paint splattered walls and the cry of a tomcat
Lights going out and a kick in the balls
I tell ya that's entertainment, that's entertainment

That song has been in my repertoire since the early 80s. He supposedlly write it after coming home drunk from the pub.

Talk really doesn't get them much in itself.

1. They make money from ads during the show. And youtube revenue is basically peanuts.

2. The discussion would have to keep up for 12 more months to be hype for the next episode.

3. Cats got everyone talking and lost 100 million dollars.

Does NBC get royalty payments when other news outlets broadcast their clips? I honestly don't know how that works. Even if they do, I don't expect it amounts to much. Still though, as the old saying goes, there's no such thing as bad publicity, right?

I didn’t say it was a good or a bad thing, but he delivered what he was intended to deliver.

These are all words.

It’s probably fair use as long as it’s just clips from the monologue and not the entire thing. NBC probably claims copyright ownership to get the ad revenue from all the people reposting the entire monologue on YouTube.

He's a funny guy sometimes. I have seen clips of him when I thought that he was hilarious. Is he the same as some of the ones that he was 'calling out'? Yeah. He's a comedian. If the room was full of righties, he probably would have mowed down the righties...it's just part f the way that he is.
