Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

Changed my mind, just had a right good verbal stooshie with some prick moaning at the driver.

:bump:

How are you all?

At my end, work sucks (nowt new there), keep thinking I'd like to get playing again but never getting time to even get a guitar out for a noodle, never mind actually learning songs and joining a band. Wife keeps getting aches and pains (joys of getting to middle age).

Son graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Computer Games Design and is now on his new game project post university working as part of a small studio that he and some friends from his course have set up which is going well so far.

All is kinda floating along in uninteresting ways here. Financially I'm slightly on the rough side of life, but not much to worry about. Dog is doing great and adjusting well. Weather is all over the place the last few weeks, so we haven't really had a chance for good hikes/camping trips. Had a bit of a scare with a weird bump on CoGF's back, that freaked out the skin doc sufficiently to immediately cut it out and send it for testing cause it might be a horrible form of skin cancer. Turned out to be a thing that looks pretty much exactly the same, but is totally benign. Life's just kinda in the "it's alright" mode. Not many great things happening, but no bad shit either.

And good luck to your son :) There's been quite some small-ish studios doing great stuff in the UK recently, fingers crossed his project joins the success :)

Oh yes, and I had my birthday :embarrassed:

Evening chaps.

Managed to in one click make a bit of an arse of a quite important page on my website the other day and didn't notice until yesterday so I'm in my local enjoying some lager beers and have spent the last hour or two undoing the mistake. On the upside, after Wix rolled out a massive change to how the whole thing works during lockdown when no fucker needed to do anything with their sites, I'm pretty much done with what I need to do. I've got one last job I could probably get away with ignoring but I've put so much time into it now I might as well just get it fully over the line.

Not much else to report here. School holidays so I've flirted with the odd spell of sobriety since late June :embarrassed:

My wife is looking set to get a promotion and she'll be earning more than me if you take away the DJ money which will be nice. She wants to move house, I don't so I've suggested a compromise of getting a top notch loft conversion done to give us a master en suite, she seems kind of on board so that's my next big project to look into.

Just back after a week up north. First two days we (girlfriend, her dog and myself) decided to camp in a tent in Applecross and it was torrential rain for the entire time, which was just fecking awesome. Oh yeah, and we arrived just after the Applecross Inn stopped serving food (and all [both, I should say] other food options were closed because they had gone to have fun at the village dance). But that did mean that two days later when it was only normal shite weather as we stayed in the Ferry Boat Inn in Ullapool (strangely very similar to Faulty Towers), we felt like we were in heaven.

These little places have a character of their own.

I did think "I'm not in the big smoke anymore" when I struggled to find a pub (or anyone that even knew of a pub) that had the Rangers game on Saturday when I was up in Wick for a gig.

I could leave all my gear overnight without fear of it being nicked and have a leisurely few pints once I'd finished which was a nice change.

Did a really cool festival gig up in the mountains this weekend. Kicked arse.

The bridge I crossed on the way back home yesterday though looks like this now after collapsing this morning.

Thank fuck that didn't happen yesterday, and that somehow there were no casualties this morning. :embarrassed:
Maybe going back to building bridges in something other than glued wood is a good idea. This one lasted about 10 years.

I have been off work for 2 weeks already again with anxiety and sleep issues. Managed to get an appointment with a psychologist next week, hopefully that will help.

in the meantime I have decided I prefer working at home on my own music to being in a band, so I left the band. I had been thinking about it for a while and rehearsals and gigs don’t really appeal to me anymore ( for now). So I also decided to sell my (super heavy) amp and cab ( 100w Laney head and ENGL 4x12 cab). If I ever decide to go back to gigging, there are so many portable solutions available these days…

ps I went to see Nope in the cinema last night, and I recommend it. Great acting and cinematography

holy shit!

on a slightly related note, last night until this morning we had intense thunderstorms here. At 2am I stood in front of my window watching a lightning show almost right on top of us

Yeah, felt really horrible when I saw what had happened this morning, and then relief that nobody had been physically hurt, just a car and a semi-trailer partially submerged in the water.
Main road that goes under the bridge is typically quite busy that time of morning as well. Some luck that!

Looks like we're getting thunderstorms here tomorrow. Fun. :embarrassed:

Glad everyone was ok! Did they say what caused it? Was it seriously just rotten wood after 10 years?

Sorry you've still having the anxiety issues. If you do get back to gigging etc, then Kemper, Fractal, AxeFX etc have plenty of portable options these days. I watched an interview with Kris Barras the other day talking about why he moved to Kemper. I've seen him live a few times and he has some really good tones with his rig. Interesting watch I thought:

No known cause of it yet, but road authorities are doing a full investigation on it. There are about 10 other bridges in the southern part of Norway with similiar construction so they deffo need to get to the bottom of it. It's just pure luck that people didn't get killed.

Oban is a great little town if you ever get the chance to visit. Couple of outstanding seafood restaurants.

The distillery do an excellent tour too.
It is indeed a lovely little town, we visited last year for our family holiday. We tried to do the distillery but it was fully booked. I'm not a seafood lover but the wife is and we found a fantastic takeaway place on the harbourside called the Green Shack which she went to a couple of times while the son and I went to the excellent chip shop around the corner from it.

I was in actual Eurosland last week! Went to Mallorca. Really pisses me off that when I go to the continent now I feel like a 'foreigner', especially when traveling. Fucking Brexit cunts cut me off from my European brothers and sisters. Cunts.

Anyway, I had some truly excellent ice cream and found a locals bar with the most comprehensive and amazing beer menu I've ever seen :thu:
