Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

That reminds me...one of the most hilarious pictures I've ever seen was of the Newcastle fan trying to punch a police horse after they lost to Sunderland.

West Ham yeah, but they've been up in the Premier League for years.

If I remember right, in Europe Fenerbahce vs Galatasaray is considered the worst local derby - now that's hostile.
Rangers and Celtic up there as well.

Neither as bad as some games in South America though. Wars have been started over football games there, as well as players and referees getting assassinated.
Those guys do not fuck around. :embarrassed:

I was really surprised in Amsterdam there that they don't let away fans travel to Ajax or Feyenoord for derbies.

IIRC there were some bad incidents, destroyed trains, god knows how many euro's worth of damage year after year. Everyone was getting fed up with the bullshit. At some point the mayors of both cities gave the fans an ultimatum, if the next edition can't pass without severe incidents and special police force involvement there will be no away fans for an unspecified time. Needless to say the brainless dipshits could not get through a day without leaving a trail of destruction. Since then the mayors get together every year to decide whether there will be away fans or not. I think it's going to be quite a while before they will allow away supporters again, last time Ajax played the cup final, which is traditionally held in the home stadium of Feijenoord, Ajax fans took the occasion to completely thrash the stadium...

So I decided to do something new today and went to check out my local amateur team - last home game of the season and they're gunning for promotion.

Side note - these days I'm really not that into football unless it involves Rangers - I can't sit for 6 hours on a Sunday watching the EPL and I really don't care about the transfer toings and froings of other teams but this was brilliant.

One of the linesman weighed about 25 stone and spent more time on his phone than watching the game
One of our players got sent off 20 minutes it for screaming "you're a useless fucking cunt" in the refs face.
2 of our players almost came to blows
Our manager threatened to cave in a supporters head for being cheeky as they went in at half time
The opposing support and management got it thick pretty much the full game from our fans
And in amongst it all we managed to nick a winner in the dying embers of extra time

Class afternoon out and you could actually have a pint at it.

Mrs is away to her sisters for a takeaway so I'm firing up the new Weber bbq and doing a nice steak.

Turns out it was a draw, I missed their 3rd finishing off my half time pint in the bar

Apart from the beer I can't see anything in your description that would be out of place at Ibrox :embarrassed:

I've been going to non league footy occasionally for a couple of years. Great fun :thu:

Had a cracking weekend, with a really cool gig on Saturday, in Oslo. Fun (as well as waaay to much beer) was had.

No comment on the football. :embarrassed:

About the football: interesting match next week in my old hometown: the team from "the other" side of the river can become champions in their away game against the team from "my" side of the river, who need one point to be 100% sure to be safe from relegation. Should be quite interesting...

Also, I'm visiting the GF in Turku again, I must say, I like this place. And we started watching the latest Black Mirror series, no idea why people were hating it so much.

Went on a trip to a cabin in a national park for two days, was pretty awesome, walked around in the sun all day yesterday, grilled sausages in the forest this morning. Now it's snowing like mad. Finnish spring ftw...

Yup, been that way here for a couple of weeks now. At least warm enough now that snow doesn't stick. :)
