Morning Brotherhood Of Man fans

So, back from a very very wintery Wangerooge. Fantastic though, it involved constant changes of my kids socks and trousers and radiators full of wet and drying clothes. Fucking great weekend though.

Even found an abandoned baby seal on the beach which we then clubbed to death Canadian style. Just kidding, some woman told us the seal rescue people were on their way to take it to a sanctuary or something. Which gave me visions of a Logans Run style sanctuary, only with seals. Very very cute animal though, how it managed to strand itself about 100m from the water is anyones guess. The fat bastard.

Morning all, bit of settled snow this morning for the first time this winter. No doubt the 1 cm of the white stuff shall cause famine and plagues as per the usual media panic. Carry on.

This is probably when I should mention we've got over a meter of snow up here the last month or so. :embarrassed:
We carry on

Yeah, been to Oslo in Dec/Jan/Feb a few times for work. -20C before wind chill and a couple of metres of snow besides the roads and railways where it hasn't been cleared. In Norway, life goes on as normal in these circumstances. Here in the UK, a couple of flakes and the country normally shuts down.

There's something about being used to it.
Winter every year shouldn't come as a shock

British Seasons:

Spring - cool temperatures with rain.
Summer - not quite so cool temperatures with slightly less rain.
Autumn - cool temperatures with rain.
Winter - colder temperatures with more rain.

Makes sense. I've never been in the UK without it raining at least once every day :embarrassed:

Yup, you get used to it very quickly. Back in the Netherlands everything would grind to halt with the slightest bit of wet snow, here it's been snowing pretty much every day for the past month and a half and it's business as usual.

Good excuse to hang out in the pub all day though :embarrassed:

I love pubs. If only some bright spark had had the idea of a British pub 20 years ago we could have had those all over the place instead of Irish pubs. Still, they're more or less the same so no big deal I suppose

My wife (teacher) showed me some of the kids work yesterday. They have been covering other countries and languages etc.

on England - The capital is London and theres a bridge called Tower Bridge. Everyone eats fish and chips.

on Holland - It is a very flat land and is covered in windmills. Everyone wears clogs.

This isn't what they've been taught, its what they think about the countries.

sounds correct to me

I love how foreigners keep banging on about the clogs. I have never ever in my life wore any clogs :embarrassed:

I know just one person who actually wears them on his parents' farm.
