Almost-random thought for the day: Is the principal reason that people choose to avoid the discussion of politics and religion that they are uncomfortable with their own positions on these matters and scared of being provoked into having to reconsider them?

Politics is a subject I find I don't agree whole heartedly with any party, all have some valid points, all mainly talk shite and are arseholes. Last person you should trust with power is the twat who wants it.
Religion however I have fairly firm views on but generally keep quiet on as I respect other people's right to have their own opinion on the matter.
I have a good rule when it comes to politics, I'll vote for whoever I disagree the least with.
As for religion, I genuinely think organised religion is the root of all evil.
