Restaurant chains we might lose in 2020?

Red Robin - I love their burgers, and I make it a point to go there on my birthday month to get one for free. I'm surprised about this one because they are always packed when I go there.
Same at the two locations here. I was also surprised to see them on the list.

I'm sure that more horrible microwave-to-plate chain restaurants will open to take their place. Of those on the list, Red Robin is the only one I'll miss - they would serve you a burger without a bun, and substitute a salad for fries, so it worked for me.

Now, if only The Olive Garden would follow these others into the great void...

1. Perkins - Already all closed here
2. Marie Callender's - All closed here
3. Boston Market - Their HQ is in Denver, or used to be. They are not bad, but none close to me now.
4. Red Robin - We used to go there occasionally, but found a place with better burgers (Hops 'n Drops)
5. Tim Horton's (U.S., not in Canada) - None here ever
6. Steak N Shake - the only one in town just closed. Meh...
7. Ruby Tuesday - Been closed for years
8. Friendly's - nope
9. Luby's - Nope
10. Pie Five - Nope

The only one of the above we ever went to (Red Robin) we stopped going to last year some time. I try to find local eateries as opposed to big chains when we can. We rarely eat out anyways.

I would hate to see Steak N Shake go, as there are only two 24/7 places to eat in Battle Creek. Denny's, & Steak N Shake.

Even though I rarely eat at either, it's nice to have options.

Steak et Shake is a solid downstate interstate exit option and I’d be sad to see ‘em go. I like to have an option that isn’t the Tuscola McDonalds if I don’t stop for ramen in Chambana when I hit up Chucktown to visit my friends and/or play a gig.

Yeah, don’t know what’s going on with Steak n Shake, but I have noticed a bunch of them are closed in Central OH, with SnS “franchise opportunity” signs outside. Seems like maybe a larger franchisee must have gone belly up, but overall, I didn’t ever see any indication that they were in trouble.

Boston Market has struggled for a long time.

Perkins still seems to be thriving in the Upper Midwest and Plains.

The only Marie Callender’s I remember in the Western Chicago suburbs closed like 20 years ago.

You’re not gonna see Tim Horton’s except for Michigan and Ohio, going up into the Northeast. They seem to be doing OK in this area.

Ruby Tuesday is awful. Bye, Felicia.

On the fast food front, however, Yum! (who owns Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell) has just acquired a place called Habit Burger? Or Burger Habit? Never heard of it. Has anyone been there?

Habit is pretty good. Interesting acquisition. It’s much better than everywhere else they own. I wonder how badly they’ll ruin it.

Never heard of Habit Burger.

Michigan seems like it's the last place to get anything. We finally got a Chick-Fil-A over a year ago. Still no Waffles Houses, almost no White Castles, no Roy Rogers, no In and Out burgers, no Whataburger...

It's not uncommon for places to go belly up not because of a lack of customers, but because of idiotic investments and other absolutely pointless management decisions.

I think it's actually the Millennials or GenZ or whatever they are called killing them....they can't be bothered to stop and since most just uber rather than drive they opt for GrubHub, Doordash and the like from the new model of Fast Food disguised as "Upscale Craft", more local chain tyope things such as "GrassFed" (grass fed cow burgers) or some kinda niche chicken wing restaurant.....kidz :old:

also if they are out and about in a LYFT then they stop at Wawa or 7-11 https://markweinguitarlessons.com/f...restaurant-is-now-wawa-sheetz-and-7-11.95911/
