Radiohead is erased from the internet

Liking this record significantly more now than I did back when this thread was spinning. That's a compliment; most things wear thin.
Like Bilbo after wearing/possessing the ring of power too long.

This was just a random comment that popped into my head in the morning, which I then posted in stream of consciousness style, without filtering.

It blows my mind how people - specifically musicians - find them boring.

I mean, it doesn't surprise me, in a way. In the same way that the fact that high school reading lists have become less demanding/challenging is unsurprising.

I don't find them boring so much as pretentious and irritating. They seem to impart that to their fanbase as well.

I've found that people who abuse the word 'pretentious' tend to have shallow answers to the question "what's the pretense?"

Add arrogance to the narrative.

I've found that people who look down on others because their tastes don't match their own tend to think higher of themselves than others who interact with them.

Did I mention irritating? I think that I did.

But to specifically answer your statement..

Re; the band

“Street Spirit is our purest song, but I didn’t write it…It wrote itself. We were just its messengers…its biological catalysts. It’s core is a complete mystery to me…and you know, I wouldn’t ever try to write something that hopeless…All of our saddest songs have somewhere in them at least a glimmer of resolve…Street Spirit has no resolve. It is the dark tunnel without the light at the end.”

And as for the fans

pre·tense:
an attempt to make something that is not the case appear true. a claim, especially a false or ambitious one.

They're brilliant.

Easily the best rock band of the past 25 years, and it's not even close.

Are you recommending it for yourself?

The only thing that is inferior is Radiohead.

Liking a band such as radiohead only serves to make what you play seem stellar.

Kind of like watching reality TV.

LOL... If there's one constant in the universe it's the divisiveness of Radiohead. Personally I think they're still a strong rock presence and are brilliant live, can't wait to see them on the next circuit.
