Quarantine fitness jam

After yesterday's run, the legs were way better than I expected today for squats.

No run today. Run and deadlift tomorrow. Since the squats went so well today, I'm going to up the poundage on the deadlift.

The Easter bunny brought my daughter a pretty rad 18" bmx bike (with training wheels)
So she and I walk/jogged a few miles around the neighborhood and the local park. Quite predictably she wanted to go as fast as possible and had no concern for learning how to brake or steer, so daddy had to save a few near-crashes.
Came home and did a 3 mile run, so that's good enough for Easter Sunday.

Planning on a run/ lift twofer day tomorrow.

I found a nice quiet ~1.5 mile loop around several blocks nearby and got 11 miles in early this this morning for my weekly long run. That means I'm going to eat much more pizza than necessary tonight and tomorrow is rest day

Wow. Legs were no bueno today. 2 mile run was about all I could manage.

Deadlift was 345 for a single -- not quite where I wanted to be but I'm ok with it after yesterday's squats and today's soreness.

24 mile ride bike ride yesterday with 1,600 feet of climbing. My usual short ride when I'm out of shape. 4 mile walk today, my usual run route but my son came along and didn't want to run.

I signed up for a year of Les Mills' online material (Les Mills is a fitness company that supplies fitness training material to gyms). I've been doing their body pump program for 10 years at the local gym, which closed back in February. Looks to be well made videos.

I made a purrty flower for you bozos on my run this morning. Happy Tuesday!

I skipped a long steep climb today (because I didn't have time) for another route that had a long steep climb that I didn't know about. I didn't stop but I wanted too, I need lower gears or a younger body!

Did a short run yesterday but that was it.

Today was a pretty good one. Getting faster and faster on my 4 mile morning run. Did the B+ weight routine this afternoon (B routine plus one extra exercise) No new progress but a solid training day all around.

Think I'm gonna be ready to bump all the weights up another 5lb next week. :thu:

The Gillian Michaels work out today. Good for my core and back, etc.

Yesterday, got a good hike in up a good sized hill to a top of a ridge, walking distance from my house. Saw hardly anyone. Cooler temps kept more people out of the park where the trailhead is. Which was nice. The guys from Pearl Jam hiked around with me, serenading. From Chicago.

My house is down there in that town, where the trees start to be more thick, on the north side somewhere, around the toe of that hill.

I’m getting really sick of the gym being closed. My kettlebells only go up to 40 pounds so I’m having to up my reps. And no room in our house has high ceilings so I can do the big snatch movements. I would go hiking but all the trails are packed with groups of people who are probably passing the virus around like teenagers passing bottles of Wild Irish Rose. The latest round of snow should be melted in a day or two so I can go out on my road bike and not have to worry about wiping out while I’m in the bike lane.

Slept in this morning and didnt run, but I did lift this afternoon. Struggled a bit compare to earlier in the week. I was pressed for time so I didnt get to rest much between sets. It's also been 3 or 4 days since I took a rest day on the weights, so I'll prolly do that tomorrow.
Still gonna run tho.

Friday I'll try to knock off work a little early for a bike ride.

Then Saturday is sloth, gluttony, and beer day.

Lather rinse repeat next week.

Looked up some home workouts and discovered I have been doing pushups wrong. Well - mostly wrong - my entire life. My hands are out too wide. I switched to having my hands a lot closer together. And now I can do even less pushups at one time. This is not doing my ego much good. My upper body strength was never that great to begin with so this is doing me good - but it seems like I should be able to do more....

Meant to bike ride today, but got busy. So short hike today instead. Bike ride tomorrow. Probably mountain. Talked to my connection at the Local Bike Shop about the Kona gravel bike I had asked them to order before the corona/crash thing. I have the money mostly saved but am worried about if we need it for other stuff. The shop says I will be able to have it next week and not pay until June 1, so thinking I will move forward. Would be a good mental health thing for me to strive for. Also, I found a really, really good deal on ebay which the LBS matched, so. . . .

Mine would be the purple version.

today was some good hard quarter mile repeats while doing laps around a local park that's big enough to avoid people if you're willing to run on the grass/baseball diamonds, around trees etc (which is way more fun than running on the paved path anyway). I realllly miss running on trails

I loved workouts like that when I could run well and fast without injury. Nice!

most of my running is at a good slow easy pace, but every now and then it's fun to pretend I'm younger than I actually am and really open it up
That was the kind of running I enjoyed. That, and trail running where this is vegetation and shade, and ups and downs and twists and turns in the trail. Makes the run more interesting.

This place is my favorite place in the world to run I think for fun trails. Very twisty, up and down, loamy, watch out for roots, through old growth temperate rainforest in a city park. We would do about a 5 mile loop, maybe a little more, involving mostly the blue trail that winds close to the 5 mile drive road through the park. Views of Puget Sound too.

and the bike shop called, building that bike up today!
