Post a vid that most exemplifies your 80's

Honestly I do not remember. I was in a drugged haze until 1988. They all sounded the same.

Ahh, very good.

But, are we talking about the original early 82 Harvest release, or the late 82 Capitol release with the non-Disco version My Own Way and the long versions of Hungry Like The Wolf and Hold Back The Rain?

Your DD street cred hangs in the balance. Choose wisely.
I am almost afraid to answer, but as an aging father of 3, and having very little street cred as it is, I will answer anyway. Late 82 Capital.

Here's one my brother just posted on Facebook: Booji boy (Devo) kills it on My My Hey Hey:

80's Neil Young always reminds me of this too.

But to me, the signature music of the 80's was about over by then. (1989).

The sig sounds for me were what I already posted above.

And sounds like this too.

yeah, I know it was released in '79. It was still an '80s album to me.

Many others too. DEVO, Stray Cats, Violent Femmes, Talking Heads, etc.

This is the correct answer. Congrats, you got cred.

While the purist will always always state a preference for the early 82 Harvest (which was a commercial flop), the true fan will go with the clearly superior later Capitol release. Both are brilliant. However, letting Colin Thurston work his incredible magic to reengineer and expand the album length proved to be just the ticket.

When the long version of Hungry Like The Wolf from the 2nd release hit the US airwaves, DD went from obscure Euro New Wave underground sensation to the biggest band in the world at the time.

RIP Colin. The man was pure genius.

Some great stuff posted so far. I was born in '76 and started playing guitar around '88. In my journey of musical discovery, I listened to a pretty broad range of stuff.
Not sure I could pick just one video. But there's this:
