Yep.
What vid or musical moment best exemplifies how you remember the 8o's? Hair metal, new wave, punk or post-punk, rockabilly?

here is mine. Of course there were lots of other bands and influences, but picking just one . . .


 
The 80s were my lost decade musically for the most part. I pretty much quit playing in 1985 and didn't start again until the mid-90s
 
If there was a video that took me through me my musical multiple personalities of the 80s, it would start with the Talking Heads and morph into Kid Creole and the Coconuts, James Harman, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Asleep At The Wheel with Stevie Ray Vaughan wrapping it up. All with Zappa, Beefheart, Ry Cooder and Tom Waits as a constant throughout.

That said, this is a good memory:
 
Wow! I am surprised! Way more metal/hair metal posts than anything alt/wave or whatever.

Ok, to even the score, I have to post my other two top candidates:





REM would be in there too, but these guys force their way to the top, along with late 70's stuff from Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson that I finally discovered in the 80's.
