Pets of Wein

Wish my life/living situation was a bit different. I love dogs, but not doable having my own with the life I have (single, and sometimes gone for several days and working shifts). My sister and her boyfriend recently got one and him visiting is one of the most enjoyable things I know. And for some reason I always get along with them. Sure they can be annoying bastards as well, but there's something about the pure joy when you meet again that just melts my heart. Dogs do that better than anything else. There's no better way of taking my mind off everything else that might suck or be horrible at that time.

Dogs give unconditional love and it's amazing.

Lola was out early am for day care then straight to the groomers and although she was absolutely burst mentally and socially, Mrs jbj and I sat out in the back garden having a few drinks and she lay there keeping an eye until we went in even though she was knackered and REALLY wanted to go to bed

I sometimes have my sister's dog visiting, and we get along really well. He took to me immediately, even as a little puppy. When he's here it's one of these things where you just forget all the shite that happens elsewhere in life, dogs do that to you. They really are the most amazing animals.

there's a patch of grass backing on to the gardens round here which is secluded enough I can let her run about and play off the lead. With no command or direction, for the first time ever a few nights ago she actually brought her frisbee back to me and dropped it.

5 years it's taken her and TBF she reverted to hoarding type once I'd chucked it again but it was definitely something when she's usually so protective of her frisbee and won't let anyone near it, even when she wants it thrown.

Fireworks seem to have really pushed Rocky over the edge. Just can’t seem to relax.

Buddy ran out of miracles last night. His hind leg could no longer support him to sit up or stand up. He no longer had a quality of life.

Buddy was able to tell cancer to fuck off. He died under his own terms. It was really old age that got him.He was not supposed to live more thanone to four months back in February 2024. He was an inspiration to my mother who was dying at the time. She passed away a year ago in June.

He went peacefully. He was surrounded by his family. It went about as well as a shitty situation can go

Bye Buddy you were the best pack-mate A family could ask for. It’s been 15 years of absolute joy.

And another rescue. Sammy the Boston Terrier is around 5 years old. He came from an abusive home. His foster mom said he had almost no hair on his body, which they helped restore. He was afraid of most men and any broom, which indicates his past. He recently fathered a litter of Boston Terriers and the foster can't continue to keep him.

He's been with us for 11 days and has settled in nicely once the other dogs got used to him. We have already gained his full trust, so he just needed a safe, secure and loving home. He is a full-on horn dog, so his neuter surgery is scheduled for next week. He and Rosco are best buddies, spending every moment together. I'm not much of a Boston Terrier fan, but this sweet little guy is changing that. He's so ugly, he's cute!

He looks like a cross between a cicada and Ernest Borgnine to me!

Sammy was scheduled for his neuter Friday, but the vet declined due to his constricted nostrils, which could cause issues during post-op recovery. It is a congenital defect. We will have to find a vet that has an oxygenated recovery crate and/or is nasal surgery capable.

Lola turned 8 last week while we were on holiday. She was duly spoiled all week culminating in a battered salmon fillet from the chippy for her birthday dinner. She demolished it.

I've been doing lots in the garden while on holiday from work. Unfortunately she's gone from the dog who jumped out of the living room window at the robot hoover when we first got her to now hsvo5to chase her when I'm mowing or strimming the grass because she'll just get comfy and refuse to move no matter how close I get to her

3+ years Lola has been going to doggy school when mrr jbj is in the office.

She"s was never socialised by time we got her and despite our best efforts, the opportunity has pretty much passed so she generally keeps to herself and shies away (i'm talking opposite end of the field while the other dogs play) from the mad dogs running around but today is the first time she's ever appeared in a couple of clips playing.

I'm definitely not having a little happy cry in the kitchen watching this.
