I'm sorry about your cat Aahzz. We are having a similar situation with our cat Clover. He was big like yours. In less than a year, he's become skin and bones. The vet had us change his diet, but he doesn't gain any weight.Have an appointment to have our cat, Hamilton, euthanized today. He's 15, and he's been getting thin lately - we changed foods and thought he was getting better, but today he can't stand up without obvious effort, and was unable to lift his back legs high enough to get in the litter box. This pic is from before he started dropping weight - in a matter of a couple weeks he's become skin and bones.

people are assholes. pets are family and nobody would consider giving up a human rugrat just because they got called back to the oil field. that guy should never be allowed to adopt again. ...."oh it's inconvenient for me now so I will just drop him off in a parking lot somewhere"Two weeks ago, Mrs. T was putting something in her car when this guy showed up. We had seen him wondering around 4 days earlier, but he was too scared to allow us get close to him. With some gentle coaxing and food, he allowed us to put a leash on him. We give him food and water in the garage, slowly introducing him to our pack. I post the usual Found Dog entries to the local FB groups and Next Door. The local pet store finds a microchip and talks to the company, who says his owner never registered him. The store manager gives me his chip number, even though they aren't supposed to.

Fast forward to a former microchip case worker who researched with his shelter and came up with the following: His shelter name is "Watson". He was adopted from the Georgetown (near Austin) Animal Shelter 5 months ago. His owner recently called the shelter to surrender him back because he was going back to work in the oil field. The shelter told him he would have to surrender to the county because that's where he's zoned, the owner got upset and told them that he would just go drop him off somewhere. We call him "Petey" since he doesn't answer to "Watson".

Working with him the last few weeks reveals that he is extremely sweet, shows zero aggression, is very playful, and that he was mistreated by the former owner. Sometimes he melts into my lap with little whimpers. We're talking with a second family who is interested in him after the first one bailed, but I won't let him go to anyone who isn't willing to immerse him with love and gentle guidance. He has great potential if allowed to learn in the right environment.

He's been banned from adopting in that area, but probably not in other regions.people are assholes. pets are family and nobody would consider giving up a human rugrat just because they got called back to the oil field. that guy should never be allowed to adopt again. ...."oh it's inconvenient for me now so I will just drop him off in a parking lot somewhere"
also it's amazing how many people never register or even update their pet info for microchips....also it seems every lost dog either has no collar or a collar with no tags. My dogs have always worn theirs 24/7....they never come off BECAUSE yuou never know when they might get loose and that it the easiest way to get them back to their owner...the damn collar tag.

If I stand up too quickly or innocently raise my hand to do something, the dog bolts away, which is a sure sign of abuse.

Thankfully, you don't have a poop knife mounted.
