Overhyped artists

I was singling out Eddie. Lots of people who dont play guitar think he's the best ever. You never hear virtuoso guitarists name Eddie as one of the greats.

No, he only completely changed the way guitar was played (for metal genres anyways). You don’t get to Yngwie without Eddie, period.

Most metal guitar players dont employ the finger tap method. Heres something a year before VH One
Yngwie came out fairly close to EVH

finger tapping wasn’t the only thing he popularized (and Steve Hackett from Genesis was doing it as early as 1971 btw). His complete style of playing was copied by the entire metal world (hair to death) and no one played like that before him. 1st album was released Feb 1978. He was playing exactly like that for at least 2 years previous in Pasadena back yard parties and Hollywood.

Van Morrison

Here are the lyrics to Crazy Love. To me this sounds like it took five minutes to write standing around the water cooler on a break.

I can hear her heart beat for a thousand miles
And the heaven's open every time she smiles
And when I come to her that's where I belong
Yet I'm running to her like a river's song
She give me love, love, love, love, crazy love
She give me love, love, love, love, crazy love
She's got a fine sense of humor when I'm feeling low down
Yeah when I come to her when the sun goes down
Take away my trouble, take away my grief
Take away my heartache, in the night like a thief
She give me love, love, love, love, crazy love
She give me love, love, love, love, crazy love
Yes I need her in the daytime (I need her)
Yes I need her in the night (I need her)
Yes I want to throw my arms around her (I need her)
Kiss and hug her, kiss and hug her tight
Yeah when I'm returning from so far away
She gives me some sweet lovin' brighten up my day
Yes it makes me righteous, yes it makes me whole
Yes it makes me mellow down in to my soul
She give me love, love, love, love, crazy love
She give me love, love, love, love, crazy love
She give me love, love, love, love, crazy love
She give me love, love, love, love, crazy love

There is no direct line from Ritchie to Yngwie. It’s all Eddie’s moves he copped.
(and I don’t even like Yngwie or elevator metal in general)

Not even close to correct. There is no EVH to YJM line at all. Most of his influences were classical anyway, Paganini and Bach were his favorites. He got a copy of Deep Purples 'Fireball' not long after he got his first guitar, and learned it note for note.

Also, Ritchie played a Strat with a scalloped fretboard....Hmmm

Eddie, not so much.

Yngwie was influenced by a violinist and a pianist. Paganini and Bach. He's rated right where he should be as a guitarist. I get it that he doesnt have any catchy or easy to listen to songs that bring in the money. I'm not sure of any songs he does that resemble Eddie's playing. There is no way Y M copied him. Yon Winter might agree with you. He would probably choose The Edge.

Favourites, perhaps, but there is zero influence there. Anyone who’s spent any serious time studying Bach knows that Yngwie, um, didn’t. Maybe he signed up for the course but the lectures were too early? Idk. Either way, I don’t care whether he loves the music, but he sure as hell didn’t learn it.
