What you have under the ACA is insurance, you don't have total health care, you think you do but you don't because in reality if you are under the ACA you won't be able to afford it. So in reality your health care will stop. In Virginia this week, the ACA took another step toward failure as Aetna has pulled out of the system. Say what you will but the ACA is collapsing in it's current state in Virginia. I don't know what other states do to continue to float it as they must have a bottomless pit of cash somewhere.

In the Swiss system, which the ACA is based on, companies that choose not to participate in the system are not allowed to conduct any business in Switzerland. They can't sell insurance, bank, invest, or even move money through Switzerland. The problem with the ACA is that the government involved the insurance companies in writing the law, rather then telling the insurance companies how they had to perform to participate. I can guarantee that if the Virginia AG told Aetna they can't do any business in VA of any kind they would probably change their decision very fast. Now imagine the federal government telling Aetna that their pullout from Virginia makes them a non-entity in the US insurance and financial markets. Participate or cease all business operations in the United States; those are the two options you have. Want to guess how fast Aetna would fold? You think they are going to sell health insurance in the rest of the developed world where there isn't much of a market for private coverage? This is how it works in Switzerland. Participate or you can't play ball. I guarantee the Swiss companies are still making a nice profit, as they are lining up to compete for my business.

So, I guess my point is that if the government actually did their fucking job for the American people, rather than blowing the insurance industry, they could fix the ACA and have it working in like a day. Someone just has to play hardball with the insurance industry. Tell them what they have to do and how much they can make doing it. I know, it sounds socialist and anti-capitalist to some of you, but I will leave my parting comment in the form of a question; Can you tell me the name of a financially struggling Swiss insurance company?

The perpetual greed of the mega-profit health insurance companies is behind each state pull out. Their profits before people mentality means they will run away if their margins are threatened.

I love how you deplorable's worship money making and greed, even when you are the victims. Willful ignorance means you get what you deserve.

unfortunately.....a lot of innocent (of greed) are going to suffer too. maybe even more.

maybe someday people will figure out how much they are lied to by the right....and start voting accordingly.

Charlie Christ did something like what I posted to State Farm when they decided to cancel all homeowner's policies in Florida. He had the state AG pull State Farm's license to provide ALL insurance in Florida. State Farm caved pretty much instantly.

Crist was probably the last Republican in office with a spine. He had the nerve to introduce Obama at an event and shake his hand. That was the end of his career. He wasn't perfect, but he was no yes man.

trumpcare is not a health care bill. its a massive tax cut for anyone making above 200k and it guts medicaid to pay for it. it doesn't address any of the problems or offer any solutions.

the insurance companies are the problem and they spend so much buying politicians its going to be tough to actually get positive changes.
