As I digest the inevitability of Trump being the R nominee, something has occurred to me: this is in fact what the people want and have been clamoring for. I read something along these lines today, and it made a lot of sense.
Stay with me here for a second...
We've been bitching about the two party system forever and how the leadership of the D and R have been picking the candidates, effectively locking in career politicians and locking outsiders out. Who could possibly break that lock? It had to be someone with bazillions of dollars - it's the American way. Joe Blow from backwoods, anywhere USA may be a great president, but we'll never hear about him, ever.
So it's Trump, a man with unscrupulous business ethics and a loudmouth bully to boot. He broke the mold. (Ross P did as well, but he had to run as an independent). Why? 'Cause he could afford it - 'Murica!
The dems had a chance to do the same with Bernie. The only problem is Bernie is a nice guy, not rich (in the Trump or Hillary sense) and he says what he means and does what he says. Nope, that is not how you break the machine. Bernie is a thorn in Clinton's side, but his fate was sealed before the first ballot was cast. The democrats are running in situation normal.
Do I like Trump? No. Do I agree with him on many subjects? No. But I do recognize the significance of his inevitable nomination and also recognize that the dems are not ready to change.
