Not even remotely...

I have been staying out of this thread because I find it incredibly one-sided, partisan and incredibly insulting...and I also understand the futility of explaining why I prefer the government of my country not tell me how I'm supposed to think or what to believe...

But the ignorant ones I find are the ones who dismiss large groups of people based on the medie depictions being presented...

You do not know me sir...you do not know who I am, what I do, or how I think, yet ou presume to dismiss me as "stupid, lazy and ignorant"...so what does that make you if not ignorant and intolerant...

The left wingers who spend a lot of time saying things like tou said while patting themselves on the back for being so open minded, elightened, and intelligent...what does that make them?

And one other thing...the thing that makes me angry is being called stupid and lazy because I don't agree with you...

Politics used to be the art of compromise...now it's just the art of winning without caring if you're right or wrong...

I guess. I'm just a lying, cheating sideshow thats completely beholden to corporate interests...
Surely you recognize the difference between saying a particular politician (or process) is beholden to corporate interests and dismissing an entire segment of the population, that includes people here, as stupid, angry and lazy?

FWIW, the mainstream republicans are no different. Their candidates are just as bought and paid for as the democrats. That was my point: Trump IS what people have been asking for; a person who is not a career politician and who isn't bought and paid for. The republicans tried to squash the signal, but Trump had enough money to get through. It's the only way it was going to happen.

Factually speaking, the Democrats offered up a strong, principled viable candidate whose entire appeal was his transparency and decades-long record of demonstrably NOT being beholden to corporate interests. He has received 45% of his party's vote....but he's a sideshow cause both parties are just all the same?

It's not true.
You don't believe it's true.
Your party is in shambles. Broken, fractured, utterly and completely controlled by media punditry.
It's bad for the nation.
You voted for PALIN...PALIN!
Fix your party. Come to the light...we're waiting.

Bernie received 45% of his party's vote, and how many delegates will he receive?

In his own state, he received 86% of the vote.

Senator Patrick Leahy, Bernie's longtime "friend" pledged his superdelegate vote to HRC. Ex-governor Howard Dean and current governor Peter Shumlin both pledged their superdelegate vote for HRC.

Bernie was never a serious threat to Clinton. He is and was a sounding board for her.

Bernie's delegate count: 1415 to Clinton's 1705. Close race, 'eh? Oh, superdelegates: Bernie 39, Clinton 523.

Who is being represented here?

Sorry, both parties need fixing.

The republicans took the first step. We don't like the candidate, but the message is clear.

I'm not into name-calling, but I do believe that both America and the entire world would benefit from the total destruction of the GOP.

Where the Democrats are right now, that's where conservatives should be. The entire political spectrum needs to move left. There is no left in America.

In many ways I agree that the GOP has run it's course...the proof lies in the candidates being presented by them...the same cookie cutter conservatives over and over again...it is important to note that Trump was by no means the choice of the GOP...

There is a left in the USA...Bernie Sanders is Left...Clinton is moderate...Trump is undefined...

My biggest issue with the Left as it stands now is their need to regulate the thoughts of individuals and their penchant for dismissing anyone who harbors a dissenting opinion...the governor of NY has already declared that his state no longer welcomes conservatives to exist there...

For a party that used to pride itself on it's tolerance, open-mindedness and acceptance that's pretty closed-minded, intolerant, and completely unacceptable...

You all may flame me for this, but that's Communism...and it is completely beyond me how we as a nation are moving ourselves directly into being what we spent a half century fighting against...

Wait a minute...the Democrats aren't controlled by media punditry? REALLY? The vast majority of the media as it exists is a tool for the Democratic party...their constant shilling of the left point of view is directly responsible for YOU calling ME stupid and lazy...

I didn't call you anything. The point was made that the GOP was "in shambles". I supported that assertion by offering the opinion that a stupid, lazy voter base is partly to blame for said "shambles".

Internet pro-tip: Stop being so thin-skinned and bitchy.

Except we didn't really fight against communism, we fought against totalitarianism and extreme right-wing genocide and fascism. America would be a far better place if we hadn't wasted decades fighting "communism" and pursuing the Cold War.

I hate to result to a meme, but it really captures the difference:

When you stop being so superior, holier-than-thou, and insulting...and by referring to the voter base as stupid and lazy you are indded referring to each and every individual that base encompasses as stupid and lazy...it's the danger of speaking in absolutes...

When the media and politicians stop looking at the population of the US as an "it" maybe they will start re-learning the art of compromise and acceptance of opposing points of view again...

Ok, fair enough...but you have to acknowledge the fact that Cuomo basically telling anybody who disagrees with his politics to leave the state is a very real form of totalitarianism...and is 100% in opposition to what the USA is supposed to stand for...

I disagree.

“Who are they? Right to life, pro-assault weapons, anti-gay — if that’s who they are, they have no place in the state of New York because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”

He added that moderate Republicans, such as those in the state Senate, “have a place in their state.”

I'm totally fine with this statement.

The people being talked about here are in zero danger of ever being rounded up, arrested, deported, imprisoned, tried, convicted, criminalizes, etc.

Being harshly criticized is not only fair game, but well-deserved. Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from ostracization.

And completely consistent with the politics of those who legislated the declaration and the constitution.

Yup.

I'd be really sad to see this thread killed on account of thin-skinned tantrums.

If you can't handle the conversation, then avoid it.
Whih I was doing quite successfully until it became less about politics and the process and more about idealism and insulting the opposition...

I don't believe anything I've said beyond my initial "fuck you" has been in any way personal or personally directed...but there is an inherent problem for me when generalities are applied to individuals indiscriminately...

I am a registered independent...I have not voted along party lines once in my life and don not intend to start now...my own personal politics tend to lean towards fiscal conservatism, social liberalism, and constitutionally based government...where I see the major issues with discussions like this is when any dissenting opinions to strict party lines being dismissed...

I fully support much of the Democratic platform and I support much of the Republican as well...if that makes me a moderate then so be it...

What I want is for BOTH parties to present me with a candidate to consider who is actually qualified for the job and not selected for their ability to look good on TV...I see none of that this year...if these people represent the best and the brightest of this nation then this nation is truly fucked...
