That said, the post-Goldwater GOP has a long history of acquiring support from people who are happy to vote against their own best interests, and that of the general population.

No way he gets the female vote, or the black vote, or the Hispanic vote, or the union vote, or the anyone-who's-even-remotely-left-leaning vote.

They said similar things about Bush Jr., and yet we had two terms of him.

I’ve known enough women who loved scumbag men to say that Trump will have no trouble finding women voters.

Sad truth. Plus there have been a fair amount of women at his rallies.

Also I'd be surprised if he doesn't pick a female running mate.

OK...

When HRC is talking out both sides of her mouth, it's because she was "quoted out of context".

Despite the fact that HRC created and stored classified information on an unsecured server, it's no big deal because the American people are sick of hearing about it.

The vast right-wing media, controlled largely by fox news is to blame for HRC's "Benghazi problem" (in which four Americans, including an ambassador died in a terrorist attack).

The word "hypocrite" comes to mind here.

Oh, and it's the low education "white male" voters propelling Trump. They're simply too stupid to understand the complex issues that the left seems to grasp so easily. They are just neanderthal religious zealots and gun nuts who are one fox news break away from losing it all together. There are no female trump supporters, or minorities.

Got the talking points covered here?

And @Tig, I have no doubt Trump has plenty of skeletons in his closet. Of course his are centered around his business and real estate dealings and marriage(s) (do you think HRC really wants to go there?) . Clinton's financial dealings in the past are going to be a source problems for her as well, fwiw.

Either way, this is going to be an interesting summer and fall.

I doubt she'll have to go there since his blabbering already provides enough damage. If he plays the Lewinski card, he's toast in that department since all of his divorces have been directly related to his habitual marriage infidelity.

Let's see if he ever releases his tax information. You can almost hear the bones rattling already.

As a human being, I consider Trump to be one of the all time greatest failures. "Integrity" is an incredible value he has never had a use for. He's used to playing absolute dictator in his world, bullying anyone who gets in his way.

Her quote WAS out of context. She was talking about how we needed to create new jobs in alternate energy fields since coal is dying. Conservative media grabbed the anti-coal soundbite, ditched the rest and got their base worked up.

The jury is still out on classified information on Clinton's server.

Benghazi is a pure smear campaign: Republicans cut embassy funding for additional security then tried to pass the buck and blame Clinton for it, just as they do when it comes to veteran's care. Republicans are the ones that chose to politicize Benghazi and while it was unfortunate, they chose to turn it into a scandal, solely for the purpose of discrediting Clinton during a presidential run... Gowdy is even on record admitting that. Numerous Republican led investigations have cleared her, but its still Killary and BenghazSHE to the Fox News set and they continue running investigations on the notion that if you repeat a lie often enough it must be true.

I'm not doing handstands and cartwheels for Hillary Clinton. I think she's a flawed establishment candidate, but she is a reasonable alternative to the insanity that is Donald Trump. Nationalism, racism, and bullying is not presidential behaviour, especially from someone with no actual political experience that is suddenly in the running to be the leader of the United States.

You know what would be cool? If we had candidates where we were comparing their positive attributes. DO any of these people even have positive attributes? Actual strengths that would be good for this job? They should shoot them all into the sun. Every last fucking one of them.

I woudn't say that Clinton is without redeeming qualities. She's just a terrible campaigner. Bill minus the charisma. But she's been deep in politics, law, and big business for decades. She's seen Washington at it's best and worst. She's suffered lots of humiliation and made countless awful compromises. I think that makes her the perfect person to deal with our do-nothing congress, in the same way LBJ was. She's the leader we need for the awful government we have.

Trump is good at spending money, having trists and going bankrupt. he's a freakin' expert at that.
he's used to telling people what to do and firing them if it doesn't happen.

technically.....that should make him the best politician ever.

Hillary is Nixon '68. Whip smart. Qualified. Despicable. Completely unlikeable. Most likely to invade Cambodia.

Trump is Wallace.

Bernie bros are the new Stay Clean for Gene kids.

Not a Hubert Humphrey in sight.

Let's hope it only gets as bad as the spirit of the 1960s vs that of the 1860s. Trigger warning indeed.

i think that's what i said.....in different words.

Polls have consistently shown a 70% negative view of Trump for women. At best. I'm not saying that he can't turn it around. But it's an uphill battle.
