O'Hare sucks

More the San Jose area (Frisco gets all the acclaim, but the South Bay and Peninsula are the economic engine of the Bay Area). We made a retrograde move to the Midwest in May. I'm still recovering. Did it all with one hand behind my back (literally - I have a shitload of torn tendons in my right rotator cuff...)

Mojo my friend.

I had family that lived in Franklin Park, about 3 miles from Ohare. During the two times I visited them, I threw down a half dozen or so of these Italian subs. Al & Joe's deli in Franklin Park. Home of the Chicago Sub. This is where I would eat if I was in the area. It's not fancy, but it's good.

My aunt Violet from Franklin Park was addicted to smoking cigarettes. She developed a horrible smokers cough. Her Myna bird would mimic said cough perfectly. It was eerie.
Al and Joe's is great, and easy to miss if you don't know where it is. My family lived in River Grove just east of Franklin Park. I worked at the Franklin Park KMart when I was in high school and college in the early 80's. I know the area very well.

Also, 294 sucks. He had landed but, is waiting and waiting for planes turn for gate.

I don't follow, Bob. What did you do?

There are places where there is only one set of train tracks so, let's say you are north bound. Your train has to wait for the southbound train to get to where where you are, at the end of two tracks. Then it's your turn to use the single set of tracks.

Also, unrelated but, I hate waiting for trains. If I was king of america they would have to elevate the tracks or build tunnels for them.

We ate at Dave and Buster. Not the greatest burger I've ever had but, it did not suck. It was like 200 feet from the on ramp to 294 and I thought I'm going to be trapped forever on 294 so I better eat now.

294 south was soooo much better than the trip up. Only on it for 8 miles so, maybe that had something to do with it.

Thinking about screenshotting and leaving in my van Peens post about places to eat on way up. I've been in the area for work multiple times, usually check out what the 167th GC has in the used section when I'm in the neighborhood.

My mother in law passed away and son is flying home for the funeral. Midway this time so, searched O'Hare for Peen's food suggestions. Now I remember printing it at sticking it in my van.

All you need to know about eating over by Midway is that there is a White Castle on 63rd and Cicero. You can sit in the parking lot watching the planes fly over while you eat your delicious cheeseburgers.

I picked him up at 4:30 and got the hell out of there. Stopped in Joilet and ate at La Mex.

I remember as a child parking somewhere at Midway and watching the planes land and take off. Ford City was a destination back then. No mall around here and my dad worked underground there back in WWII. He was in charge of wing tips. For planes, not the shoes. So, with my fond memories of watching the planes, I bring my family up to the big city. Children were born in 93, 95 and 98. There's fences everywhere blocking the view so, you must have to go into the airport to watch them. I pull up to a guard shack and nicely ask where I can park to watch the planes take off and land. It was a couple of months after 9/11/. You should of seen the look on his face.
