O'Hare sucks

That reminds me,

In other gross dude news, turns out that a friend of mine is friends with a MGTOW bro and that a bunch of the MGTOWs are coming into Chicago for a convention or something. (My friend said, “ I have to pick this guy up from the airport and take him to his sausage party. These men were SCORNED.” In assume the conference is just an opening statement of “Broads, right?!?” and then three days of leering at anime on their phones.

Anyway, if you’re in Chicago watch out because the black pill weirdos are gonna be out of the basement for a bit.

Son is flying home for his 10 year high school reunion. Not been to O'Hare since forever because every time someone says, I might come home, I say please, please, please use Midway. Arrival time is 4:40 Friday.

I'll be coming from a job in Bourbonais taking 57 up there. Taking 55 home.

Any hints?

Also, probably will be hungry for something quick drive through or at least eat on the way.

Picking up your son from O’Hare at 5pm on a Friday in the summer? Get a new son. Disown this one. He’s lost.

Seriously, though. I’ve not had to pick anyone up from O’Hare in a car in years. Usually if they’re coming to my place I just meet them in baggage claim and we take the Blue Line back to my place.

I know that people basically just pull over on the ramp shoulders around O’Hare to use them as a makeshift cell phone lot, making for a lot of obnoxious traffic nonsense in the afternoon/early evening around the Rosemont corridor. Here’s some options—

Most annoying for your kid: tell him to take the CTA blue line from the airport into the city and get off downtown at Washington. He’ll then walk east a few blocks and get to Millennium Station. He can then catch the Metra Electric south all the way to University Park. You can take 57 up to basically Monee and get him from there. He can get a couple beers and drink them on the Metra (but not on the CTA). This will take him about 2.5 hours of additional travel time, but you all could be stuck in 2.5 hours of traffic so…

Annoying for you: Take 57 to the 294 split (around Tinley/Midlothian) and take 294 N to the O’Hare corridor. If you don’t want to fart around with airport parking or parking on the ramp to wait for his call, there’s a very much downscaled Oasis (a gas station/7-11) where you can park just south of Rosemont (the old O’Hare Oasis). You can park there and wait for his call — it’ll take you another 30 minutes from there in moderate traffic to get to the airport arrivals area. 294 is all torn up, but traffic isn’t too bad as long as you hang to the left when possible. Lots of construction throughout but the 290 interchange around Hillside really backs up the right lanes.

Super annoying for you: I would not recommend taking 57 to 90/94 and then out to the airport via 90 at that time of day. Construction through 57 and you have to squeeze through the never-ending construction and lane realignment bullshit at the Byrne.

Possible nonsensical option: you could take 57/294 up to Rosemont and then find yourself something to eat there. (There’s a lot of corporate expense account and chain “fun” restaurants.) Your son could take the Blue Line to Rosemont and then Uber to your location. Feel free to attend an Anime convention at the Donald E. Stevenson and then get some Ryan Sandberg approved weed at the Verilife dispensary and end the night with some Brian Urlacher billboard hair plugs. But seriously, you could have your kid meet you in Rosemont and save the airport shenanigans.

Take 294 south and grab 55 around Countryside or thereabouts. Again 90 to 90/94 to 55 on Friday in summer rush hour traffic wouldn’t be my first thought for a fun evening. Check Google though as their traffic info and trip times are pretty correct.

Peen pretty much laid it out so all I can add is good luck! I'd make him take the blue line at least somewhere away from the airport. Gonna save you a lot of trouble.

Deebo knows. He’s just trying to bait everyone into a boring old debate so he can talk about his beloved Mexican Mayonnaise Weiner Sandwiches and his newly invented Tina’s Burrito Dog.

Posting your colonoscopy photos?!? Not cool, bro. This is a family forum.

Bringing this all back around, if @Bob411 wants to get hisself a true Chicago dog window special or a gyro and fries on the way up, he should exit I-57 at Sauk Trail and travel east a couple miles to Athens Gyros (just east of Governors Hwy and next to the Dunkin Donuts). Their gyros are good and the fries tasty. And they serve a real deal Vienna Beef Chicago dog.

No problem.I like to be a helper. I was just checking out the Chicago reddit and I saw this

Pink's L.A. Chicago dog.....what do you think ?

pinks makes a decent dog, but they need to stay in their lane

On a related note, I've now lived in Wisconsin for over a month and haven't had a bratwurst yet!!!!
I think it's just like the limit for getting a new driver's license - 60 days, so you're ok for now but you should get on that soon

Tina’s Burrito Dog.
now that sounds like a good LA dog (pinks wouldn't, but oki dog would)
