LPX, the Ultimate Les Paul
Effects, pedals, AC adapters, batteries, direct boxes, amps, tuners, patch cords—they're a major hassle, but a necessary part of your sound. Or are they?

More than six decades into the evolution of the solidbody electric guitar, the LPX—new from Gibson USA—unlocks your full potential as an artist by removing the boundaries between you and your instrument.

With the supremely playable and beautifully crafted LPX, your sound lives in your guitar. Plug into an amp, a front of house mixer, or an audio interface: your sound goes there with you. 55 expertly designed presets, using the LPX's dazzling array of world-class, built-in processors, take your tone from searing leads, to tender ballads, to the sound of various iconic guitars, to rocking rhythms, to much more—quickly and easily.

But don't stop there: Create your own signature sounds that shape the LPX to your musical desires. What's more, footswitch and expression pedal controllers communicate wirelessly with the LPX to minimize stage clutter, while robot tuning keeps your guitar perfectly in tune. And that's just for starters.

There are plenty of guitars for the timid. For the bold, there's LPX.

Apparently the video is from March, so I must have missed this at Winter NAMM. And why is that guy from Gibson playing the guitar when its so fucking out of tune?

I kinda feel bad for Hector. The poor guy has to try to pawn Gibson's fresh ideas to the public and that would be a shitty job. Then he has to lower himself to make a video for Sam Ash.....as soon as he hit the button for the overdrive sounds, he should have put the guitar down and walked away.

Geez, where do I start?

Robot tuner, go home, you're drunk.

Hey, do you think we could get just a bit more fret buzz? I could almost pick out individual notes.

Piezo pick up crammed up against the tune-o-matic... sounds like a wounded mouse in a tin can.

12 string modeller, so you can sound twice as out of tune.

iPhone connectivity. Is there an app for turning off the UFO landing lights?

At least it isn’t as ugly as the Firebird X and the Dusk Tiger. It still looks like shit, mind you, just much less so. I’d rather drop $2,000 on a JTV and a POD HD 500.

My first love was a cherry sunburst ES-125. I love the looks of this guitar, but I hate all the shit on it and the middle pickup.

Looks like a modern take on the idea that Electra had with the MPC back in the 1970's with the on-board effects modules. I don't see this as being successful in terms of sales, but it's an interesting idea. As technology gets better, it may be more useful and reliable for gigging guitarists, but I agree that there's a potential for it to not function well in real world conditions.

Now that it’s morning and the kids are gone I watched the video. Holy shit is that a bad tone.

Ummmmm, I think I'll pass on this one. It looks like another guitar with built-in, mediocre sounding effects, waiting to fail.

duct taping the very first pod to the ugliest guitar you can find would be a better option.
