Now that we're into a couple weeks of Corvfefe what have you been creating in the kitchen?

It was a grillin kind of weekend. Saturday beef filet and Pommes Anna:

Sunday, lamb chops, asparagus and mashed potatoes (yeah I bought a lot of potatoes):

Made a creamy chicken curry yesterday. Turned out great considering we're staying in a tiny hut with not even a chopping board on hand and an induction hob I couldn't get my head round. Couple of birds eye chilli's gave it a nice bit of heat at the back end.

After years of trying to convince her to stop buying breast, Mrs JBJ heard some TV chef say thighs are the better meat yesterday and NOW she's convinced :annoyed:

That's funny. I made Murgh Makhani (spelling) aka Butter Chicken last night and it was damn good. Added serrano chilis for heat. They are my go to chili for most things. They are way more consistent in heat than a jalapeno and not blow your rectum out hot.

We're really limited with our selection of chilli's here.

Birdseye and sometimes Scotch Bonnets are on the shelf but most of the time it's just red and green peppers about 5cm long and they don't even say what type.

I wish I could readily get birdseye here. My mother in law had a bush years ago and one day it was just gone and I was very sad. She claims to have no idea what happened to it.

Mrs JBJ is out with a friend for dinner so that can only mean one thing...

ON THE BONE CHICKEN

Done a sticky sauce with loads of chilli and 5 spice. Absolutely banging and I've plenty for lunch tomorrow.

Made a Chinese inspired beef curry last night.

Velveted the beef using the Woks of Life recipe and it came out really tender. Total winner.

Braised some lamb shanks last night. No pics but check out the beauty of these mini sweet peppers I diced to go in with some lentils:

Just did my take on Pepin's scrambled eggs after a nice long walk with Lola.

I can't see Mrs JBJ stomaching them cooked so little bit it's absolutely tremendous. I could eat a bowl of the veg garnish all on its own.

Properly scrambled eggs like that are my weakness. So delicious and the texture is just fantastic.

Finally put together a decent loaf last night on a whim. I have been struggling with density for a while. This one turned out quite good IMO.

Yes, I keep a ton of spices and shit on my counter at the ready.

I just spent the last 2 and a half hours making waffles (I made a huge quadruple batch of batter last night and then remembered this morning that I only ended up with one waffle maker in the divorce. Still not a bad way to spend a sunday morning, and they freeze very well, so now my waffle needs have been met for the next month or so)

forgot to take pics

Mrs JBJ is dining out so obligatory "let's make something she wouldn't like" meal for me.

Beef Madras.

Made a bit of an arse of it going to the butcher's for the beef when it was going to summer away so long but it saved me dealing with the supermarket.

As far as nice Currys go it was super easy and tastes great. Nice kick on the back end with the chilli powder. Made saffron rice to the Salt, Acid, Far, Heat instructions and it's stellar too.

I won't go into extreme detail but this is a recipe I came up with for a Buddha Bowl. No gluten, dairy or eggs. Low sodium.
Everything is seasoned in a Mexican style. Quinoa, pan seared cod, black beans, cherry tomatoes, red onion, avocado, cilantro and lime juice. It came out fabulous

Brazilian chickpea stew / curry tonight. Followed a recipe for the most part but added a few different bits and bobs. Pretty good, I'm sure with more tweaking it will be a great easy midweek dish

I have been looking for some chick pea recipes that aren't Chana Masala or a basic curry. Maybe something Israeli or Turkish? The hunt continues.
What's the difference between a chick pea and a garbanzo bean? I wouldn't pay to have a garbanzo bean on me.
