Nah. NHL has royalty; some are personal (Gretzky, Richard, Howe, etc.). Some are teams.
But as often happens, not all members of royal families are fond of one another.

McAvoy's hit was penalized, and perhaps should have been a major. No one seemed very upset by Dubois running Rask, which is as risk-laden and unsporting as an uppercut as you steer a guy to the boards. Dubois later jumped Nordstrom, and I just accept that's part of the game. If Anderson wants to be given Twinkletoes Crosby "No Touch!" treatment, perhaps he ought to avoid giving out extra punches after the whistle. But it's not 'a story.'
New-age hockey fans are gob-smacked by physicality. Watching the Sharks/Avs, I couldn't believe how non-physical those teams are, compared to any EC team. There is (apparently) a true cultural difference.
In watching the Stars / Blues, it was painful -- those teams are having an offensive skills competition, and if either progresses to the Final, will have their butts handed to them by (fill in blank here). At least I've seen the Blues play tough; you wonder why they don't do that to Seguin and watch him drift away in a haze of contact avoidance, in-game whining, and post-game pouting.
All that is perhaps a matter of taste - and I honestly don't want to argue taste. I feel that there's enough high-profile hockey that deemphasizes physicality (int'l and/or Olympics) that I prefer old style NHL hockey. YMMV.

In terms of the Sharks/Avs - I agree the games tended to be pretty gentlemanly, but that is mainly the result of the lack of animosity between these two teams. Had it been the Flames, the Ducks, or the Kings against the Sharks, I guarantee you that you would have been treated to much more of that 'old-style' hockey!

Yes, but you have to hand it to DeBoer. It wasn't called offsides, he challenged the goal and the challenge was upheld. Had he got it wrong, we would have got a minor penalty along with giving up the goal. He was proven right.

Not sure why you say that. Seems like it was just a good catch and completely by the book. That said, I'm no expert as danhedonia will tell you. As I understand it, you are either on side or off side. There is no maybe.

He was only offside because he was attempting to enter the bench...which is right at the Blue line. He was, in no way whatsoever, part of the play and no advantage was gained. If the bench entry were say, two feet closer to center ice...there is no offsides.
Again, it’s a really, really tough call.
