I'm thinking that him making a special effort to kick her in the face while she was on the ground pretty much negates the matter of whom was the initiator.

Yeah, here's the video, but unfortunately no audio. Apparently she was trash talking him pretty harshly when he lost his cool Not good behavior on his part for sure, but he is hardly "brutalizing" her. Just some pushing and shoving from what I can see.
