Name some of the more....embarrassing bands that you've seen live.

The only Kix song I can remember off the top of my head is "Love Is On The Way"

I still use that song when I'm trying out acoustic guitars. If I can play it without my hand cramping, then it's a pretty good playing acoustic. :embarrassed:

I've seen too many bands to list but I'll mention the ones that were flat out bad...

Angel - They opened for a show that featured The Cars & Styx. They were pretty bad.

Fabulous Poodles - A late 70's one hit wonder. The opened for Tom Petty. The only applause they got was when they played 'Purple Haze'...

Nantucket - Utterly forgettable band that openedfor Boston on their first tour. They sucked...

Robert Fleishman - He was briefly the lead singer for Journey prior to Steve Perry. He wrote 'Wheel In The Sky'. He and his band (post Journey) got called in to open a big rock show in the SF bay area when the opening band bailed (UK). They were not very good....

I avoided seeing most of the 80's hair metal bands so I managed to miss a lot of embarrassing bands.

The only one I am a little embarrassed over would be:

Rod Stewart - but taking my wife to it payed off for me big time :)

Other notable shows...

Boston - Thrid Stage Tour
Jimmy Page x2 Outrider and something else.
Robert Plant - Now and Zen (The bonus was that SRV opened up, that was awesome)
Led Zep reunion shows x2
Ozzy
GNR and Aerosmith
Gary Moore (still got the blues era)
Pink Floyd
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Kenny Wayne Sheppard in this small dump in Dewy Beach Delaware (got his autograph)
BB King
Gov't Mule

That's all I can remember for now.

Were they bad??

I liked their last two CD's quite a bit....

They weren't bad..just very 80's.

I actually got to hang out with Steve Farris the guitarist in 1998 or so...he was friends with the other guitarist in a band that I was playing at the Troubador in Hollywood with. When I mentioned seeing him play at Disneyland he gave an epic facpalm biggrin

This band:

My band played with them last year, we were sort of psyched because Jim Degregotis of the Sun Times named them one of the top ten local bands to watch in Chicago that year.

They were the most God-awful band I've ever seen or heard and I was definitely majorly embarrassed to even be remotely associated with them.

I've seen a lot of embarrassing big name bands but that's because I was a concert promoter for a few years and did over 700 shows, stuff like Limp Bizkit, N'Sync, Insane Clown Posse etc, may have been embarrassing but my job was to fill the room and crap like that always sold out.

Steve Farris was one of the big reasons I liked Mr Mister - I love his guitar playing. Another guy who makes every note count. That and Richard Page is a great singer...

I guess I'm lucky I didn't get to see them live....

I don't remember them being bad...just not my bag at the time (I would have been happier with Dokken opening for the Scorpions in 1988)

Most of the concerts I have seen, and I havent seen nearly as many as you guys, I am fine with. Some of you would be more embarrassed than I am. Most country shows. Some smaller and some of the more popular acts.

That's right, I've seen both Toby Keith and Kenny Chesney.

I saw Van Halen in 1984!
I took my wife to see Bon Jovi a couple of years ago.
I have seen Brad Paisley a couple of times.

I've seen a lot of bands, too many to remember at the local festivals including:

Frampton
Jonny Lang - really like his music
Train
Carry Underwood
Skynyrd - I'm southern, it is required (plus I like them)
Bryan Adams
Daughtry
All American Rejects
Vince Gill
Allan Jackson
38 Special
Keith Urban
and a ton more that I cant think of right now

The only concert I have been to that I was actually embarrassed at the time was the Prince Purple Rain Tour.

I went with my girlfriend because we won some really good seats. I think we were maybe 20 rows back on the floor at the Orange Bowl or something like that. I was hoping the entire time that no one would see me. I know he gets a lot of respect as a guitar player but that was not my "scene" at all. I couldnt stand the music and was just uncomfortable all night.

A bit of meaningless trivia: My current wife was at the same show. Of course we didnt know each other at the time but we were definitely both there at the same time. She cannot believe that someone talked me into going to that show.

I guess I've been lucky, haven't seen too many bad ones.

The ones who stand out though, were absolutely terrible in the concert I saw them:
Metallica and RHCP.

But the worst has to be Avenged Sevenfold (they did support for Maiden in Oslo last summer). Not that they played badly, but their music is absolutely horrible.

:HB:

Metallica is the one band I've seen in a Sports arena actually trainwreck a song and have to start over because Lars is an idiot.

I've actually seen them do that 2 times.

Oh, I saw Bon Jovi a few years ago too. :embarrassed:

I actually liked their show.

I am not a huge fan of their music but like some of their songs but they put on a big rock and roll show. Not a lot of special effects or anything but a good solid show. Plus, their loyal fans make it a lot more fun.

Do I need therapy?

The time i saw them Hetfield had burnt his arm just prior, up in Canada i think, so they had a stand in guitar player and Hetfield just did Vox.

I didnt see any glaring boo boos though. Seek and Destroy was killer. biggrin

that would have been a cool show to see...U2 did a show where the bass tech played because their bassist didn't show up down in Austrailia...

When I saw Metallica, they kicked ass. This was the Black album tour.

The Bon Jovi show I saw didn't impress me much. I think Jon was sick or something because he was not singing well and they did about 1/2 hour worth of acoustic stuff in the middle of the show.

I'd love to see Prince. :embarrassed:
