The Poison thread got me thinking about some of the bands I saw in high school and how much ridicule they receive nowadays. Here is a list of a bunch of concerts I've seen...dating back to when I was about 5 years old.

Kenny Rogers & Dottie West
Oak Ridge Boys (several timese)
Jerry Reed

Skid Row & Aerosmith
Faster Pussycat & Motley Crue
LA Guns & AC/DC
Brother Cain, LA Guns & Aerosmith
Slaughter, Winger, & KISS
Trixter, Slaughter & Poison
Faster Pussycat & KISS
Brother Cain, Bad Company, Skynnyrd
BoysIIMen & MC Hammer
Reba McEntyre & Brooks & Dunn
Diamond Rio, Little Texas, Travis Tritt & Trisha Yearwood
Diamond Rio & Alabama
Metallica
Collective Soul & Van Halen
Kenny Wayne Sheppard & Aerosmith
Kenny Wayne Sheppard & Van Halen (with Gary Cherone singing)
Monster Magnet & Aerosmith
Silvertide & Van Halen
Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Ted Nugent, ZZ Top
Shinedown & Collective Soul
Trey Anastasio and Rolling Stones
One of Bob Marley's kids & Van Halen (with DLR)
Some other forgettable opener with Van Halen (with DLR)
Puddle of Mudd
Don McLain
A bunch of bands at Mountain Stage with Drive By Truckers closing the show

At the end of May, Mrs. P and I are going to see Hinder & 3 Doors Down.

So, there's some really good stuff on my list, but there's a bunch of stuff from the late 80s and early 90s that completely negates some of the good stuff. Expecially BoysIIMen & MC Hammer.

I'm also sure I'm forgetting a bunch of concerts and openning acts. I know I've seen Aerosmith at least 5 times with at least 4 different openers, and I've seen Skynnyrd at least 3 times.

Why have I seen Krokus five freakin' times???? Couldn't bands find SOMEBODY else to open for them?

Autograph was pretty wretched too.... guitar player was good but the entire band sounded like distorted crap. Axe opened for them and was pretty damned good (Remember "Knock Down Drag Out Rock and Roll Party in the Streets"?)

One concert I went to was Def Leppard, Krokus (of course) and some silly wanker in an red jump suit.....

.... I believe his name was "Gary Moore" or something.

Oh yeah, you can add Great White and Def Lep multiple times to my list. :embarrassed:

And Mark, I saw Faster Pussycat at least twice, and neither time was opening for Dio.

Oh, and Hootie and The Blowfish. It was at a local bar just before the got huge. I even got Darius' autograph on one of my band's business cards.

I saw Hootie and the Blowfish. I liked 'em actually. Saw Bryan Adams when I was much younger. Those are the only "embarrassing" ones.

Mrs. P and I saw Def Leppard opening for Bryan Adams a few years ago.

Bryan Adams put on a great show. He and his band actually stole the show away from Def Lep, and we had gone to see Def Lep. I mean, his band was tight, and his voice was great. Luckily, he didn't do many of his late 90s ballads. It was mostly his more rockin' stuff from the 80s.
