So awhile back I dropped my Nikon and broke the mount on my 18-55 lens. Since then I looked off and on for a new one. Today I had to run some errands in Madison so I stopped in at The Camera Company. Guess what? I left with one. Not an 18-55 but a 18-70. This is not a kit lens. It has a metal mount. Also the old one took a 52mm filter. The new one takes a 67mm. Took it out to the lake and shot a couple of test shots.

I've got a thoroughly mediocre 17-70mm Sigma and it's all I ever shoot with anymore. That's a super useful range for a crop format camera.

The early Nikon DSLR (D70) came with the 18-70. Much better kit lens than what they package with their bodies now. Enjoy.

So the boss gave me a raise, and the afternoon off yesterday... Rather than seek out a music store with shit I can't afford, I went to Plum Island. It's on the northshore of Mass, and about 4 miles south of the NH border. It's home to the Parker River NWR.... last time I explored there was about 15 years ago.

Well I did it again. Had my camera sitting on the arm of the couch ready for a trip to the lake. Bumped it and it hit the floor. My Tamron 70-300 is now a thing of the past. The metal mount didn't break but the piece it was screwed into did. Shame I liked that lens. Amazon had one so Prime should have it here Saturday. If I quit breaking old gear maybe I could get some new stuff.
