Lyrics that make no sense and piss you off

Urban Bovine Knievel
In “ Peaceful Easy Feeling,” how can a voice be whisperin in his other ear? We haven’t established an ear yet. First we have to have an ear to work with - left, right, it doesn’t matter - only then can there be an other ear.

Goddammit The Eagles, this kinda crap is why The Dude fuckin hates you.

“It’s been a while since I went and fucked things up, just like I always do“

if it’s been a while you don’t always do it.

I can't think of any that piss me off. Thanks anger management!

'Let's Hear It For The Boy' by Deniece Williams is slightly offensive.

My baby he don't talk sweet, he ain't got much to say.
My baby may not be rich, he's watching every dime.
And maybe he don't dress fine, but I don't really mind.
And maybe he sings off key.
Maybe he's no Romeo....

These are more than a few complaints.
She isn't so specific on the compliments.

But he loves me loves me loves me, and we always have a real good time(she uses 'but' every time she defends him).

I dont think she would be dancing along if the roles were reversed.

Yeah i know her butt got big.
Yes her cooking tastes like shit...
Hey, hey, heyyyyyyyy...
Let's hear it for the girl....

Alright, partner
Keep on rollin', baby
You know what time it is
Throw your hands up
Ladies and gentlemen
Chocolate Starfish
Keep on rolling baby
Move in, now move out
Hands up, now hands down
Back up, back up
Tell me what you're gonna do now

Walking in Memphis
I was walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel?

'Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale' is a clumsy as hell way of saying he felt he was floating down the street, so at least I understand what he's trying to say.

'But do I really feel the way I feel?' though, what the fuck is with that? That makes zero sense.

Check out this bridge by adult human person, native English speaker, and professional songwriting guy Dave Grohl…

Just waiting on a war for this and that
There's got to be more to this than that
Just waiting on a war for this and that
There's got to be more to this than that
Just waiting on a war for this and that
There's got to be more to this than that
Just waiting on a war for this and that
There's got to be more to this than that

Lyrics can be and often are just emotionally or aesthetically pleasing gobbledegook but come on.

And here’s the chorus from this other Foos classic…

It's times like these you learn to live again
It's times like these you give and give again
It's times like these you learn to love again
It's times like these time and time again

It’s bad enough that he sets up the possibility of defining what these times are to make any of this pay off but then the final line is just the Sisyphusian time loop bullshit that it’s times like these time and time again. Which might be a workable lyrical ouroboros if the point of the song was that we’re all trapped in a hell of our own making or something. But instead, the verses are just standard issue rock bullshit about breaking out and running down a dream or whatever but then coming back to one’s partner. Which I guess is a time to live/love/give again—but this is a lot of bombast and portent to suggest that “um, relationships take work.” And if that is the song you’re writing, showing and not telling in a narrative vs. a declarative song might make more sense. This song is structured like it’s a sage on the mountain revealing some hard won or metaphysical truth (think “All Things Must Pass”) but the payoff is just “yep, relationships just keep going…but I’m not gonna tell you why this particular relationship is meaningful.”

I've always felt 'sightless eyes...' from AC/DC's 'You Shook Me...' was a weird lyric choice. I guess he was banging a blind lady, and why not, but it's an odd detail.

Well, these do make sense, but they are hella creepy

Sweat by Inner Circle

Girl I want to make you sweat
Sweat 'til you can't sweat no more
And if you cry out I'm gonna push it some more
