List your 80s guilty pleasures

You've openly admitted to running a spin class. Your credit here is now zero. Thanks for playing.

oh yeah, spinning. mostly women in my class. I was also racing cat 3 road races and criteriums back then. Good cross training. I had no perceivable body fat. This is a guilty pleasures thread so you've just violated the trust that was present here. Thanks.

Nothing guilty about it. I swear that The Visitors is the best pop album ever released (if by Pop you mean after the 60s).
Pinnacle of melody, arrangements and what probably is the first major album recorded digitally.
Btw, one of my other fave albums was recorded in that very same studio just a few months after (Genesis' "Duke")

The breakups within the band brought something really honest to that album imo, and the performances are top.

Man in all the years of DJing that has got to be up there with one of the funnest gigs.

It took me 20 minutes to nip away to get changed at the end of the night, there was literally a queue of people wanting to take photos and tell me how much fun they had!

No "I Wanna Be A Cowboy?" "Tarzan Boy?" Tsk.

You know I took the wife out yesterday and drove her demented - every 15 minutes I'd go:

"SHIT, I didn't play Talking Heads"

"SHIT I forgot to do Tarzan Boy"

etc...

An old colleague of mine obviously didn't make it down near the front to see it was me but she was on FB raving about what a great time she was having at the festival and how awesome the music was on Friday night :embarrassed:

That album got a ton of play in our house when it was current. I might not be completely on board with your estimation but it's a hell of a record. I smile patiently and don't take the bait with anyone who casually dismisses ABBA.

How the hell did I forget this? One of my all time favorite, and my headbanging friends got on my shit for liking it at the time. I didn't give a damn.

The 80's were when I realized that metal culture was a lot of bullshit. Kind of like hardcore culture.

How that got me into Willi Smith parachute pants is anyone's guess.

The 80's were when I realized that metal culture was a lot of bullshit.

My last "metal" (using the term loosely here) show was Whitesnake opening for Motely Crue at Tingley in the late 80s. Even at that point it was a giant clown car.

The 80s were a bit of a lost decade for me. Between getting married (Oct '79), moving twice, finishing school, having kids (83 and 91) I really didn't have a lot of time for pleasure, guilty or otherwise back then! Plus, spending 81-87 in Idaho Falls ensured that I was only minimally connected to popular culture...
