List your 80s guilty pleasures

Yep, Bullet Boys came out at the wrong time, when the whole schtick was getting old. Sorta like Skid Row, if they had debuted in 1984, they would have ruled the roost. Dude dared to have a real guitar tone (for the time) though.

Rick Springfield, but guilty only because I knew about him as Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital . Guy is a killer singer, player, and writer with great pop arrangements and fantastic musicians on the records. I stumbled onto a CD he did in 2008 called Venus In Overdrive. It was in a bargain bin at Borders, so I picked it up just for the hell of it. I thought it was just as good, or better, than a lot of his stuff from the '80s. Interesting fact about that CD is that his co-writer and co-producer on that album was Matt Bissonnette, who replaced Billy Sheehan on bass in David Lee Roth's band.

Did you also know that Neal Giraldo (Pat Benatar's hubby) originally played the guitar tracks on "Working Class Dog"?

Re: Owner Of A Loney Heart, you just don't slag Trevor Horn. Might not like him, but he was a genius.

My son is a Cure fanatic. The irony is that I am the one who got him started on their music. Here is my cover of a Cure song, with my son singing in the background.

Awesome Gary.

Friday I'm In Love may possibly be one of my top ten favourite tunes ever, definitely top 20.

Yes! I have always been a huge Giraldo fan, loved those first few Pat records. He was a huge influence when I was learning to play guitar. I never realized it was him, but once I found out, I could clearly hear it. I believe he played on Jessie's Girl and I've Done Everything For You.

It is one of my favorites as well. The break is deceptively hard; he throws a lot of words into a short space. I often screwed it up in rehearsal but managed to pull it off on stage. My son was pleased (and shocked) to hear me sing a Cure song.
