Speaking of round-a-bouts... There were many old-school midwesterners who started throwing fits when South Bend put in maybe a dozen round-a-bouts scattered throughout many busy areas near the airport, a couple downtown, one that separates a neighborhood from a major thoroughfare, etc...
... but then I was listening to an NPR story about traffic control and they threw out a stat that (for that time) the city of Carmel Indiana had the most roundabouts per capita of anywhere in the world. Even now, I can pull up a Google map.... grab a snapshot of the Carmel area and it's like a "Where's Waldo" to see how many traffic circles you can find!
But if we're strictly talking about highway ramps that tend to get a "bit" confusing.... there are a couple that are easy to get turned around on near Detroit. I mean, it's not THAT big of a deal if suddenly you're heading South thinking you're going into downtown, on a 16 lane wide stretch of road, and suddenly you're in the lane to go to CANADA... right?
