I forget which show it was, but at some point in the not-too-distant past, the band said something like, "we could go offstage, and then come back and play an encore, but we'll just do it now instead". I thought it was great.

With most of the bands I'm in we really can't be arsed going offstage before doing the "encores". We just hang around and do a few sips and then get back to it. everyone knows we're about to do a couple more songs either way.
