Is it because so many folks here are Foo Fighter fans

If tour grosses are a good indication, then Bon Jovi are at the top of the world right now.

Good news for mystixboi1.

I would think a combined tour gross along with album sales would be a good indicator. BTW, Bon Jovi was on top last year, they aren't even in the top 10 for 2014. George Straight and One Direction are kicking ass and taking names this year, stop living in the past man

Yeah......there is a big media build up right now, but they are the biggest rock band in the US right now. They are my fave rock band now. I am guessing after the TV special, the new CD release, and the big tour that follows they will take some time off and pursue their individual projects and FF will go on the back burner like it did after the last tour.

I couldn't tell you one song they do. But I've seen em a bunch on tv. They seem like a decent rock band.
Grohl seems like a decent and intellegent sort. He seems personable and his love of music comes thru in interviews.
I'd buy a Foo ticket where I wouldn't buy a Prince or U2 ticket just based on that.
Plus the name of the band is genius.

I think they seem a lot bigger than they are on this forum (and other guitarist forums) because they're seemingly the only "rock band" rock band with any mainstream popularity anymore. Aside from the nostalgia cash-in stuff, I think they're just about the only guitar based band that's still touring arenas and stadiums. Put in the grand scheme of popular music, I doubt they're all that close to the top.

I love their philosophy and they all seem like great guys, but almost everything they have done since TCATS has sucked.
