I have bought our tickets for Batman V Superman

I will go see it this week, but I'm going in with trepidation.

Rotten tomatoes is only at 39% so far. :embarrassed:

Reviews are destroying it. Most complaints seem to be it's too slow/long/not enough action until the 3rd act. I am still holding hope.

My biggest beef going in is that Zach Snyder only knows how to pain in different shades of dark and brooding. Considering Superman is supposed to be a hopeful character, it comes across as Batman Red v Batman Blue.

I actually enjoyed Man of Steel. General Zod's motivation for overthrowing the government on Krypton made a lot more sense, and it made him more of a tragic villain.

That said, I think I will wait for this one to come out on Netflix. Even when it was first announced I had no interest in it.

Snyder, despite his slavish "take the panel, put it on the screen" approach, doesn't seem to "get" comics. And he sure as shit didn't understand Alan Moore. He seems incapable of handling any tone or subtext more subtle that teenage boy basement/locker room arguments.

His slow-mo abuse is a visual crime. His action scenes are noisy and relentless and incomprehensible and, worst of all, boring. The "everything must have obvious artificial color filters" trick makes everything he does look like an Evanescence video.

Say what you will about the assembly line approach of the MCU, Disney at least manages to render their properties into entertainment. This Snyder/Goyer DCU is shaping up to be a garish horror show akin to Batman and Robin only with 500% more senseless murder.

And OF COURSE HE IS...

Saturday at 1:10 I will be taking the kids to see it. I don't know if I have ever been this excited for a movie before. When I was a kid, the only thing I cared about on Saturday mornings was watching the Superfriends. Now I will finally get to see Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman all on the big screen.
My wife LOVES Wonder Woman so we bought tickets two weeks ago for preview night on Thursday. I already have Civil War tickets as well. I have a problem.

Lots of early reviews saying the tone is too dark. That's my problem with the DC movies to this point. They as so serious and so dark. Although Suicide Squad looks like it will be fun.

I *love* dark comic movies. Well, dark comics in general. I just don't think Snyder does a great job with it.

*gloomy dubstep thwaaaaaaaaaah sound*

I can't let you do this.

You can't resist fate.

Just let me GO!

So pretty. So fragile.

They're counting on a hero.

I guess they'll have to settle for me.

i do not understand this whole versus thing. they're both supposed to be super heros fighting for justice.....why the hell are they fighting each other??
seems like a stupid premise to me.
Because Zack Snyder doesn't understand source material in any way, shape, or form.

I'm going tomorrow. I expect to MST3K it. I don't expect it to be good.
